There’s simulation… and then there’s the moment all that practice translates to a real patient.

Our student nurse anesthetists took another big step in their journey from the classroom to the clinical arena, with successful intubations all around. 🙌

Watching confidence build, skills click, and that first real airway get secured is one of those faculty moments that never gets old.

Cords seen. Tubes passed. Bilateral breath sounds. Proud Program Director. 🥹👏

The future of nurse anesthesia is looking pretty good from this side of the head of the bed. 💉🫁

🎓 First Day of Anesthesia School | Class of 2029 💉🫁

And just like that…the journey begins!

Today we welcomed 16 future CRNAs to their very first day of anesthesia school. Over the next three years, they’ll be challenged, stretched, supported, and transformed as they build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become exceptional nurse anesthetists.

There will be long study days, countless hours in simulation, early mornings in the OR, new friendships, plenty of caffeine, and more growth than they can imagine right now.

Today, though, we celebrate the beginning. 16 students. One cohort. Class of 2029. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes you! ❤️

Annual Congress Day 2 🎓✨

Day 2 of AANA Annual Congress was filled with inspiration, innovation, celebration, service, and advocacy.

We kicked off the day with Opening Ceremonies and an incredibly powerful presentation from Rebekah Gregory, Boston Marathon bombing survivor, whose story of resilience, perseverance, and finding purpose after tragedy was truly unforgettable.

The day continued with riveting lectures exploring emerging technologies, innovation, and the evolving landscape of anesthesia practice—a great reminder of how quickly our profession continues to advance and the importance of remaining engaged as lifelong learners.

Volunteering at the NBCRNA booth in the Exhibit Hall, connecting with colleagues from across the country, and even fit in a little puppy-snuggle therapy along the way. 🐶

One of the highlights of the day was attending the AANA Honors Reception, where we had the privilege of celebrating Dr. Mary Scott Herring as she was recognized as a Fellow of the AANA (FAANA)—an incredibly well-deserved honor recognizing her contributions to nurse anesthesia, education, research, and our profession. It was also wonderful spending time with AANA President-Elect Tracy Young and connecting with leaders who continue to move nurse anesthesiology forward.

We ended the evening supporting and advocating alongside the Filipino American Nurse Anesthesiology Society, celebrating the diversity, leadership, and communities that continue to strengthen our profession.

Another full day of learning, leadership, connection, celebration, and advocacy. Proud to be part of a profession that continues to innovate, support one another, and advocate for the future of nurse anesthesia. 💙

Annual Congress Day 1 in Boston! 🦞🩺✨

A full day of learning, leadership, collaboration, and connection—starting with the AANA Board of Directors meeting and the NBCRNA update, followed by a rooftop celebration overlooking Boston with the NBCRNA staff and John Preston, NBCRNA CEO. 🌆

We rounded out the evening with an incredible roundtable dinner alongside CRNAs from across the country, sharing ideas and discussing how the newest technology from BD can help us continue advancing anesthesia practice and improving patient outcomes.

There’s something energizing about being surrounded by people who are equally passionate about the future of nurse anesthesia. Grateful for the conversations, connections, and collaboration—and we’re only on Day 1! 💙

From the years that gave us flip phones and dial-up to smartphones and streaming… somehow they all ended up in the same place.

Class of 2028: proof that age is just a number… but your goal is the same BECOME A CRNA.

🎓🩺 SIM INTENSIVES: FINAL DAY!

What a way to finish an incredible week! Our nurse anesthesia students wrapped up their final day of simulation intensives by putting their knowledge, skills, and teamwork into action—mastering induction and emergence, cricothyrotomy, difficult airway management, central line placement and advanced airway placement.

But today was about more than mastering skills. ❤️

We ended the week with our inaugural Capping Ceremony, celebrating a major milestone as our students officially transition from the classroom to their first clinical rotations. Each scrub cap represents how far they’ve come—and the responsibility, growth, and opportunity that lie ahead as they begin caring for patients in the clinical setting.

We are incredibly proud of everything this group has accomplished over the past year. They have studied, practiced, challenged themselves, supported one another, and worked tirelessly to prepare for this moment.

The classroom built the foundation. Now it’s time to take it to the OR. 💪🏼💉

Sim Intensives: Day 4 🎉💉🫁

Day 4 brought the challenge and our nurse anesthesia students stepped up! 💪

Today’s intensive focused on advanced skills and high-stakes scenarios, including difficult airway management, jet ventilation, airway exchange catheters, suturing, central line placement, spinals and epidurals and advanced operating room simulations.

From mastering technical skills to thinking critically under pressure, our students continue to build the confidence, adaptability, and clinical judgment they’ll bring with them into the OR. 🩺

Four days down, and we couldn’t be prouder of the growth, teamwork, and determination we’ve seen from this group! 👏

Day 3 of Simulation Intensives is complete! 💉🫁

Today, our nurse anesthesia students took their skills to the next level with some of the most challenging aspects of anesthesia practice.

Managing difficult airways, intubating pediatric and neonatal patients, placing spinals and epidurals, and working through complete induction and emergence sequences.

Each day brings them one step closer to the clinical environment. Building technical skills, critical thinking, confidence, and the ability to stay calm when the stakes are high.

Three days down, and these future CRNAs are putting in the work! 💪💙

Simulation Intensives: Day 2 💉🫁🩺

Another full day of hands-on learning for our nurse anesthesia students! Today was all about building confidence, refining technique, and putting the pieces together before heading into clinical.

Today’s skills included:
🩺 Preoperative evaluations
💉 IV insertion
〰️ Arterial line placement
💊 Induction sequences
🫁 Airway management & intubation

From evaluating the patient to securing the airway, our SRNAs are practicing the skills, communication, and clinical decision-making that go into delivering safe anesthesia care.

One skill at a time. One scenario at a time. Getting closer to the OR! 💪
