Get ready to rally and compete when Madison College hosts Dream Doubles: The Ultimate Pickleball Challenge on Saturday, June 27, at Pickleball Kingdom in Sun Prairie.

The high-energy event welcomes alumni, friends, students and pickleball enthusiasts of all skill levels for a full day of friendly competition, interactive games and community connection from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Choose your challenge:
🎾 Beginner’s Social | 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.| Free - Guided play, skill-building sessions and easygoing games for pickleball newcomers.
🎾 Gold Medal Challenge | 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. | Free - Fun for all ages and skill levels, the challenge features 10 skill stations and mini-games. Complete all 10 and earn a medal!

🎾 Intermediate Scramble | 12 – 2 p.m. | Players rated 3.0–3.8 | $20
🎾 Advanced Scramble | 12 – 2 p.m. | Players rated 3.8+ | $20
DUPR-rated pickleball players can register for the Intermediate or Advanced Division scramble. Medals will be awarded to round-robin competition winners, and all registered scramble players will receive an event T-shirt.

Madison College PEP Team Earns National Recognition!

The Madison College Promoting Electric Propulsion (PEP) team wrapped up another successful competition season, earning national recognition for both technical performance and documentation at the April 2026 PEP competition in Virginia. Over six months, the PEP team worked together to design and build Daedalus, an electric boat, and prepare it for competition.

As the only technical college team, Madison College stood out among university programs, earning 3rd place in the unmanned category and 1st place in the White Paper competition, finishing ahead of several university teams, including Princeton. Judges and peer teams recognized the professionalism, technical ex*****on, and overall quality of the team’s work.

With sadness, we acknowledge the passing of visionary leader Michael Johnson, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County.

For 16 years, Michael was a tireless advocate for youth in Dane County, championing education and expanding pathways for students to pursue their goals and realize their potential.

Michael held a special appreciation for Madison College because he understood firsthand the power of accessible education. His own post-secondary journey began at Malcolm X College in Chicago, part of the City Colleges of Chicago system. He often shared his belief in the life-changing role community colleges play in opening doors and creating pathways to opportunity.

Through the AVID/TOPS college readiness initiative, countless students found their way to Madison College because of Michael’s unwavering commitment to helping young people see—and step into—their future. His leadership created not only programs, but possibilities.

In 2013, Michael served as the keynote speaker for Madison College’s High School Completion Graduation Ceremony, delivering an inspiring message of resilience, perseverance, and hope to the graduates embarking on new chapters in their educational journeys.

During Madison College’s College Community Days in January 2026, Michael again left an indelible mark when he addressed faculty and staff.

Drawing from his book, “The Audacity to Lead,” he challenged employees to lead with courage, authenticity, and purpose while remaining deeply committed to serving students and one another. His message reinforced the importance of servant leadership across the institution.

On behalf of Madison College, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his extraordinary work.

We will remember Michael Johnson with gratitude and deep respect, honoring his legacy through our continued commitment to education, opportunity, and building a stronger community for future generations.

The Madison College Office of Organizational Impact and Culture, in partnership with Kujichagulia Madison Center for Self-Determination, invites you to join us for the 37th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The parade will feature floats, marching groups, dance teams, drumlines, and community organizations as they make their way to Penn Park.

Parade staging will begin at 10:00 a.m. (please arrive, no later than 10:45 a.m.) at the Labor Temple (1602 S Park St.), with the parade starting promptly at 11:00 a.m. The parade will conclude at Penn Park (2101 Fisher Street), where the Juneteenth Celebration will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., featuring live music, soul food, cultural performances, youth and family activities, community resources, and local vendors.

We hope you will join us as we honor the legacy of Juneteenth, celebrate Black excellence, and come together in community.

Good luck to our Madison College students who are competing in the SkillsUSA Championships at the National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta this week! 14 students captured gold medals in the state competition this past April to qualify for the championships and a chance to make the World SkillsUSA team.
