This week’s featured CeO scholar is Dora Malonga!!! 🩺🦡❤️
Dora deserves this recognition for her dedication to her campus, her communities in Madison and Milwaukee, and to CeO! Dora is serving her 2nd year as a CeO Peer Navigator where she has excelled in not only being a fantastic mentor but also a caring and supportive co-worker. Dora is starting her first year of the BSN (nursing) program this fall and her acceptance to this highly competitive program is a massive testament to her dedication and passion for her studies and the future state of healthcare.
In addition, Dora is the current President of the Black Student Nursing Association (BSNA) and is the TBSN Student Body President! Dora has also served as a member of MEDLIFE, student council, and volunteered in after school programs where she led fun science experiments through her course Integrated Science 240.
If Dora isn’t studying in the nursing building you might find her out hiking (ask her about her backpacking trip in Yosemite National Park). You’re one of one, Dora! We appreciate you and could not be more proud of how you represent CeO and UW!

This week’s student spotlight is Camila Cortes!!! 🧬👩‍🔬🦷
Camila is entering her 2nd year as a Biochemistry Pre-Dental scholar. Camila spent her 1st year really putting herself out there, asking questions, and getting involved in the various pre-dental organizations on campus. This past January, she did a Dental Brigades trip to Guatemala. Global Brigades is a student-movement non-profit program that helps millions of people around the world obtain access and resources to healthcare. Camila returned from Guatemala and immediately started planning her trip for 2027, where they will go to Belize. Camila is an outstanding, kind, brilliant scholar! If you’re also on a pre-dental path, connect with Camila!

This week’s student spotlight is Barrington Tomlin!!! 📚✏️📝
After initially struggling his first two years and taking a few years off, Barrington came back last fall and finished the academic year with a 3.95GPA. Barrington’s perseverance and the focus he’s had since he came back is admirable. It’s not easy for students to come back to after being out of school for a while but Barrington determination to graduate had him making the right moves. Some time off and taking classes at Madison College got him ready to excel being back at UW. Aside from academic success, Barrington is in a better place and proving he was meant to be here all along.

This summer, Ethan demonstrated extraordinary resilience and time management while working as a summer intern with the Boys & Girls Club of Milwaukee. He managed to balance a demanding professional schedule with his academics—achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA in his summer coursework!
Ethan is also deeply invested in the success of others. As a proud Peer Navigator, he acts as a trusted peer mentor, helping incoming first-year student mentees confidently navigate the complexities of college life.
