Talk about small business grit! 🍻 Opening Garth's Brew Bar in late 2019 meant that owner Garth Beyer faced a global shutdown just three months after launch.

Our team at the SBDC at UW-Madison was privileged to work alongside Garth during those critical early months to help navigate relief funding, pivot operations, and chart a path forward.

We’re honored to share that our team received the inaugural Wisconsin SBDC Network Innovation in Action Award! 🎉

This recognition celebrates "work that expands access to entrepreneurship education through high-impact, scalable tools that help fill gaps in the entrepreneurial ecosystem."

We’re especially proud of two free online courses created to support entrepreneurs wherever they are in their journey:

◘ First Steps to Starting a Business, which has reached more than 8,300 global users, helps aspiring entrepreneurs explore whether business ownership is the right next step.

◘ Beginner’s Guide to Financial Projections helps new business owners estimate future financial outcomes and better understand the feasibility of their ideas.

This award also reflects collaboration, in the form of student partnerships through Badger Consulting, the Tech Exploration Lab, and AI readiness work designed to help entrepreneurs and the SBDC network navigate emerging tools thoughtfully.
