ASIAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION GLOBAL CAFE ✨

This week’s Global Cafe was hosted by Asian American Student Union 🌏

The Asian American Student Union (AASU) has the purpose of providing a space where all students, regardless of their identity and background, may participate in and discuss Asian American culture.

Everyone had a wonderful time learning about Asian street food, playing human bingo, and trying foods they hadn’t tasted before. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and to AASU for such an engaging presentation. Stay tuned for the next Global Cafe, hosted by Grupo Folklórico 💃

BOO! Join us for a special Halloween-themed PEACE (Practicing English and Cultural Exchange) next Monday, October 19th in the International Community Center (ICC). FALL-ing into conversation at PEACE 🍂

This week at PEACE, we talked all about fall! We shared our opinions during a fun ‘Would You Rather’ activity and then played Catchphrase using fall-themed vocabulary 🍁

The ISS Law Series is back on October 13th!

Our first session will be Basic Legal Resources & Rights presented by the Immigration Legal Support Office (ILSO), which is based at UW-Madison. The event is meant as an introduction to legal resources as well as a discussion of current legal issues facing students and scholars. There will be time at the end for questions, but those with complex legal questions should consult an attorney outside of the presentation. International Student Services cannot endorse any specific law firm, but for more resources, please refer to the ISS website.

Topics will include:
- Legal Resources on-campus and in the Madison area
- Social Media considerations
- Interactions with law enforcement
- Choosing a trustworthy attorney

The weather is starting to shift - and so are the leaves! 🍂 Gather with us at PEACE (Practicing English and Cultural Exchange) on Monday, October 5th to talk all about Fall. - FIRST PEACE OF THE YEAR ❤️

This Monday (21), we had our first Practicing English And Cultural Exchange (PEACE) conversation of the year! PEACE is a free, non-credit English conversation and cultural exchange gathering that happens every other week in the International Community Center (ICC).

It is so wonderful to be back hosting these conversations, and we had an amazing time! It’s always an indescribable feeling to see everyone stepping out of their comfort zones, meeting new people, and improving their English. Congratulations to our winners of Human Bingo!

Thank you all for attending, and we hope to see you at the next conversation! 🤗
