Humorology is so excited to announce our partnership with Camp Hope for the upcoming year!

Camp Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing children together to work through the grieving process. Through weekend camps, children are shown that their emotions are a normal part of grief, and that they are not alone. Opening in 1989, Camp Hope has served thousands of families in Central Wisconsin and is one of the longest-running grief camps in the nation.

We are so honored to work with Camp Hope, and we cannot wait to support them throughout the year! If you want to learn more about Camp Hope’s mission or wish to donate, you can click the link in our bio.

Last but certainly not least, we have our wonderful Dance Chair, Harper Deeken! Harper is a senior from Menomonee Falls, WI, and is studying Dance with a certificate in Dance Studies. Let’s hear Harper’s Humo story🙌

“I got involved with Humorology my Freshman year (Drako), where I had the honor of winning best dancer! I fell deeply in love with Humo and everything it represented, therefore, I decided to run for director my sophomore year. I spent the best year of my life as dance director (Kajax) where our cast WON & raised over $124,000 for Safe Harbor Advocacy Center. This organization has such a special place in my heart, and I knew I wanted to run for exec as well! My favorite part about Humorology is coming together as a community to create something so special and raise money for such an amazing cause✨I can’t wait to make sure these dances are top tier and continue raising more money and awareness each year!!”

Let’s give Harper some love in the comments and try to guess her two truths and a lie‼️

Introducing our wonderful Music Chair, Sophie Genshaft! Sophie is a senior from Aspen, CO, and is studying Elementary and Special Education and Jewish Studies. Let’s hear her Humo story🙌

“Growing up, I was raised on stories of my mom’s 1998 Humorology production, so it always felt like something I dreamed of being part of. Freshman year, I watched rehearsals from the sidelines, hoping one day I’d get my chance. Sophomore year, I finally joined as a lead, and it quickly became one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience. Now, from being a director for PAZSTA Humo to being on the Executive Board feels like a full-circle moment, and I’m so grateful to be part of this incredible tradition.

My biggest goal is to create an environment where every cast member feels welcomed, supported, and excited to be there and to be able to understand the “why humo.” I’m most excited to meet our new members and watch everyone grow throughout the year!”

Let’s give Sophie some love in the comments and try to guess her two truths and a lie‼️

“Looking back on each year of my college experience, one thing has always stayed the same: Humorology has been my outlet. It’s a way for me to contribute to a great cause, unwind when school gets tough, and most importantly, channel positive, theatrical, and joyful energy. From being a nervous freshman who unexpectedly landed the lead role in my first show, to spending countless hours building the script as a script director in my sophomore year, I’m now thrilled to serve as the financial administrator for this year’s executive team, combining my love for Humorology with my personal and professional interests. Most importantly though, I’m so excited to work alongside a dedicated group of directors and cast members to support our beneficiary and their mission!”

Introducing the second half of our amazing Executive Directors is Betty Quasius🙌

Betty is a senior from Sheboygan, WI and is majoring Actuarial Science & Risk Management. Let’s hear her humo story!

“I first got involved with Humo as a freshman and completely fell in love with it throughout my first semester! I love the combination of humor and musicality - especially as someone who’s really into comedy, musicals, and ALL THINGS Glee-adjacent. I diiiiiid have a cameo (shoutout to Grace for writing my part), and I met some of my very best friends throughout that year. Helping raise money for such an important cause showed me just how much of an impact we can make while doing something we love!!

Sophomore year, I was a director, mainly working on the script, and it was so fun to be able to see my ideas and jokes actually performed on stage!! It was such a cool experience, and I loved it so much that I knew I wanted to come back to help ALL of the casts bring their scripts to life this year :)

I’m so excited to work alongside this amazing exec team and see the difference we’re able to make in the Madison community!!”

“As a lifelong theater kid, I knew humorology was going to be important to me from the second I was introduced to it. I immediately fell in love with it freshman year and haven’t looked back since! Beyond allowing me to continue my love of theater and performing into college Humo has brought me some of my closest friends and allowed me to create such strong bonds within my casts that I will treasure forever.

As someone who has always cherished being able to directly contribute to my communities, working with and contributing to various philanthropic organizations around Madison has been a dream come true, and through Humorology, I was able to become even more involved in the Madison community by working at Gio’s Garden!

Anna is a senior from Arlington Heights, IL, and is an accounting and finance major. Let’s hear her humo story!

“My involvement in Humorology began as a way to meet the other members of my chapter, but I quickly fell in love with it after seeing the impact it had on the community & its ability to bring everyone together. My best college memories have been formed through Humorology, whether that be placing 1st freshman year or staying up until 3am every night sophomore year to make sure we were directing the best show possible. This organization changes so many lives, and I feel so extremely lucky to be a part of it! Humo has taught me never to take myself too seriously (Thank you Elmo) and also to push myself outside of my comfort zones in ways I could’ve never imagined. I truly love this organization with my whole heart, and I cannot wait to continue giving back this year!!

I am so excited to meet all the directors + casts this year and also see all the amazing shows!! It is my goal to help continue Humo’s growth this year!”
