Wisconsin's first fire apprenticeship program is now underway at Northcentral Technical College ( ), and it's a game-changer for students interested in the fire service!🔥

Nine recruits are training at Northcentral Technical College while working alongside Wausau firefighters and paramedics. They're earning a living wage while they learn—no need to sacrifice income to pursue their passion.

This program prepares the next generation of firefighters and paramedics. It's a model that shows what's possible when technical colleges and local departments work together.

If you or someone you know is considering a career in public safety, the traditional route through a technical college program is still an option, but apprenticeship could be another great pathway.

Parents, grandparents, spouses and partners, babies, children, friends; you should all be recognized for contributing to your graduate's success as they walk across the stage and accept their diploma.

You have helped support and cheer them on. You've made sacrifices so they could put in the time, blood, sweat and tears that it took to get here.

We see you too, and we salute your contributions as we cheer on the graduates!

Thousands of technical college graduates are about to step into Wisconsin's workforce—and our economy is stronger because of it.

These new graduates are entering high-demand fields like nursing, forestry technician, welding, cybersecurity, electrical work, diesel technology, culinary arts, and precision machining. They're filling critical roles in agriculture, logistics, business management, and early childhood education.

These graduates have been trained for the careers Wisconsin needs most. They've learned hands-on and from the best in the industry. They know the techniques. Many already have industry-recognized credentials. They're confident and prepared to contribute immediately.

To top it off, most will stay in Wisconsin, enriching the places they call home with their skills, their dedication, and their commitment to building something meaningful. That's the value of technical education. That's the value of investing in accessible pathways to careers that matter.

To every graduate: your hard work has brought you here. Now, go show Wisconsin what you can do.
