SAU College of Science and Engineering Announces 2026 Outstanding Award Recipients

The 2025–2026 College of Science and Engineering Outstanding Award recipients are:
• Dr. Josh Walker, Assistant Professor of Animal Science – Outstanding Advising Award
• Dr. Bruhadeshwar Bezawada, Associate Professor of Computer Science – Outstanding Research Award
• Dr. Adrian Showalter, Assistant Professor of Biology – Outstanding Service Award
• Austin Shaw, Instructor of Mathematics – Outstanding Teaching Award
• Stacy Allen, Instructor of Mathematics – Outstanding Teaching Award

On April 16, 2026, students from Southern Arkansas University participated in the NASA 2026 ASGC Autonomous Vehicle Competition in Morrilton, Arkansas.

SAU was represented by two teams:

🔹 Dr. Zghair's team:
Anas Saleem, Cody Stewart, Jamal Anderson

🔹 Dr. Lionel Hewavitharana’s team:
Logan Flowers, Rex Barnett, Wyatt Eckerd, Charlie Matthews

Students gained hands-on experience in autonomous systems and real-world problem solving.
