: Yesterday Congress approved a bill to make a federal holiday. When President Joe Biden signs it into law it will be the first new federal holiday since Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day was created in 1983. is proud to recognize and celebrate Juneteenth, the official end of slavery in the United States. It represents June 19, 1865, the day federal troops went to Galveston, Texas to inform all remaining enslaved people of their freedom, a full 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation was declared. On this day we celebrate and uplift our Black students, faculty, staff and members of the community.

You can participate in commemorating this holiday by learning the history of Juneteenth and other Black history facts. Donating to or buying from Black charities, organizations or companies. Happy Juneteenth! To check out more about Juneteenth, please visit our website! Happy Juneteenth!

Happy Pride Month from the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Compliance!

Pride Month originated from the Stonewall riots in June 1969. Many celebrate and honor Marsha P. Johnson who identified as a Black Trans Woman and activist who threw the first brick at the riot. As a result, Pride Month was created to celebrate the importance and impact of LGBTQQIP2SAA+ (le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, q***r, intersex, pansexual, two-spirit (2S), androgynous and asexual+) people throughout our history locally, nationally and internationally.

Ramadan Mubarak to all Ramapo College of New Jersey Roadrunners observing Ramadan. Students, if you have questions regarding dining during Ramadan, please contact [email protected].

Ramadan is a religious Holiday that is observed by Muslims worldwide and includes a month of prayer and fasting (no food or drink) from dawn-to-dusk. Ramadan is also a time of self-restraint, reflection and giving to those less fortunate. Please be mindful and supportive of our fellow Roadrunners who are observing Ramadan, which ends on Wednesday, May 12th. Faculty, please be considerate of the College's academic policy regarding religious accommodations. You can lend support by acknowledging Ramadan and Eid (the celebration that marks the end of the fasting period) and by wishing students well during this time.
