Furry, fluffy, and scaly friends brought plenty of smiles to campus last week!

Thank you to the volunteers from Pals For Life for sharing Calvin the cocker spaniel, Millie the golden retriever, Sunny D the bearded dragon, and Sebastian the bunny with our staff and students. 🐾🐇🐕🦎

A quick break to relax, recharge, and connect with animals is a great reminder of the importance of making time for our mental health and well-being.

Throughout Latinx & Hispanic Heritage Month, Penn State Great Valley came together to celebrate the cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. 🌎💙

Observed from September 15 through October 15, the month begins in mid-September to coincide with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries.

This year’s celebrations included the “Naturalizations at the Chester County Courthouse” exhibit in our Main Building, highlighting the stories of immigrants from predominantly Hispanic countries who have enriched the Chester County community. Students, faculty, and staff also enjoyed a dessert social featuring treats from Brazil, Peru, and Spain. 🍰

To continue the celebration, faculty and staff gathered for a lunch featuring popular Latin dishes, including enchiladas and churros, followed by a screening of Futbolistas 4 Life, a documentary exploring immigration, family, resilience, and the role fútbol (soccer) plays in bringing young people together. ⚽

A special thank you to our Diversity Action Council for thoughtfully organizing these experiences and creating opportunities for our campus community to learn, connect, and celebrate together.

This year’s theme of Latinx & Hispanic Heritage month was “La Unidad es Nuestra Fuerza — Unity Is Our Strength,” and it was certainly felt across Great Valley! ❤️

Penn State Great Valley is proud to host "Naturalizations at the Chester County Courthouse", an exhibit that highlights the stories of immigrants, primarily from Hispanic countries, whose contributions have helped shape and strengthen communities throughout Chester County. Each individual featured in the exhibit became a U.S. citizen through the Chester County Courthouse. Co-curated by the Chester County Archives & Records Services and the Chester County History Center, the exhibit will be on display in the Main Building lobby through October 23. Last week, Penn State Great Valley hosted "Still Creating: UArts Live Performance Showcase," a special evening honoring the legacy of the University of the Arts and the creative community it nurtured for nearly 150 years.

The event welcomed former UArts students, staff, and alumni to campus, while a talented group of UArts alumni took the stage for an inspiring selection of live performances featuring instrumental music, vocals, storytelling, and more.

As the culminating event of the Still Creating art exhibit, which was displayed in the Henry Art Gallery on campus from June through October, the showcase celebrated the resilience, talent, and lasting impact of a community that continues to create, connect, and inspire.

Thank you to all who attended and to the artists who shared their voices, stories, and creativity with our campus. 💙🎨🎶

🏈 16th Annual Penn State Great Valley Alumni Society Benefit Tailgate 🏈

Join us on Saturday, November 7, for Penn State Great Valley's award-winning tailgate as we come together to support student scholarships and cheer on the Nittany Lions!

Enjoy great food, b**r and w**e, silent auctions, Berkey Creamery ice cream, photo opportunities with the Nittany Lion, and all the excitement of game day as Penn State takes on Washington. The game will be projected on the 30-foot screen in our Conference Center, making it the perfect place to watch with fellow Penn Staters.

This past weekend, members of the Penn State Great Valley Alumni Society Official took part in the Penn State Homecoming Parade at University Park. While the game didn't end with the outcome we had hoped for, alumni society members, including Michael Koch, enjoyed marching alongside the Chester County Chapter - Penn State Alumni Association and celebrating their Penn State Great Valley pride.

Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm, spirit, and dedication to the Great Valley community. We are grateful for the connections you continue to build and the pride you bring to our campus wherever you go. 💙🤍

Our ‘Through the Lens’ photo contest series continues with five more selected photographs that will soon be displayed across campus as part of our growing collection of community-created artwork.

This week, we’re showcasing the work of Carol DeGuiseppi and Laura Ducceschi, whose photographs highlight the natural beauty, history, and landscapes that make our region so special. From golden fields and historic landmarks to vibrant gardens and peaceful countryside scenes, each image offers a unique perspective on the connection between nature and place.

Last week, Penn State Great Valley welcomed 240 guests for an unforgettable evening of music as Warren Oree & The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble brought the timeless sounds of Motown to life through a soulful jazz lens.

Audience members enjoyed fresh interpretations of Four Tops classics, including "Baby I Need Your Lovin'," "It's the Same Old Song," "Standing in the Shadows of Love," and "Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)." 🎶

Throughout the evening, bandleader Warren Oree shared an important reminder: "Make sure to keep music in your heart." As an added treat, guests enjoyed Berkey Creamery ice cream while taking in the performance, making for a memorable night of music, community, and nostalgia.

🎓🚍 Career fair bound!

This morning, 24 students from Penn State Great Valley, Penn State Abington, and Penn State Brandyw**e headed to University Park to attend Penn State's, Fall career fair.

With over 350 employers recruiting for full-time roles, internships, and co-ops, the event provides an incredible opportunity to network, explore different career paths, and make valuable professional connections.
