Looking for a college counselor can be tough, especially finding one who specializes in the arts. We're here to help. Here are 5 things you should look for in a college counselor.

1. RESULTS - Check to see if the coach has a proven record of success.
2. KNOWLEDGE - Any experienced college audition coach will be infinitely familiar with the hundreds of college performing arts programs and their requirements.
3. COMMUNITY - Being part of a team of like-minded thespians is enormously important while going through the audition year. A coach who has created a culture of resources and support will give you the feeling of being in a community that truly loves and cares for you.
4. REFERENCES - Don't ever choose a coach without talking to a former client or clients to get references.
5. RELEVANCE -  Being up to date and staying current in the ever-changing world of college programs is super important.

Music Mondays: According to an article by The Guardian, in 2013 British naval officers would play Britney Spears songs to scare away Somali pirates off of Africa's eastern coast. The songs "Oops I Did It Again" and "Baby One More Time" were played due to Somali pirates having a strong dislike for western culture and music, thus helping to eliminate raids.
