Starting summer with a GOLD medal finish 🏆

Graduate students Shivaprasad Doddabematti Prakash, Suhan Bheemaiah Balyatanda, and Jared Lou Rivera earned 1st place in the Student Hygienic Design Competition hosted by 3-A Sanitary Standards Inc.! Their award-winning project, “Dry-to-Safe: Moisture-free powder removal for pathogen-safe processing,” tackled a major challenge in food manufacturing: safely removing dry powder residue from processing equipment without introducing moisture that could harbor pathogens.

Not only did they bring home the championship title, but they also earned $10,000 in prize money! Congratulations to Shivaprasad, Suhan, and Jared on this incredible achievement and for representing the Department of Grain and Food Science with excellence! 💜

Future leaders of agriculture got a firsthand look at feed and flour production! 💙💛

Kansas and Colorado FFA chapters took a break from the 98th Annual FFA Convention to tour the O.H. Kruse Feed Technology Innovation Center and Hal Ross Flour Mill, seeing the science, technology, and teamwork behind the grain and feed industries.

Thanks for visiting; we loved sharing our passion for Grain and Food Science with the next generation!
