What we learn about relationships can make a difference in the lives of families.

This fall, Dr. Alisha Hardman, Dr. Carol Johnston, and Dr. Anthony Ferraro represented the School of Human Sciences at the International Association for Relationship Research (IARR) conference in Scotland, sharing work on parent-child relationships, family stress, resilience, and parental support.

We’re proud to see our faculty bringing their research to conversations that reach beyond the classroom and have meaning for families, educators, and communities.

Some of the little moments we share with children can mean more than we realize. Whether it is listening to a story about their day, asking about a drawing, or taking an interest in what makes them excited, these everyday interactions help children feel heard, valued, and supported.

K-State child development specialist Bradford Wiles shares how being present in these moments can help build trust and strengthen the bond between children and their caregivers.

K-State Graduate Spotlight: Sheetal Choudhary.

When Dr. Sheetal Choudhary arrived at K-State from India, she worried she would feel like an outsider. Instead, she found a community that supported her growth as a researcher and helped shape her journey.

During her time at K-State, Sheetal focused her research on emotional dating violence among pregnant and parenting Latinx teens, exploring how prevention programs can better support young parents and their families.

Now, she is taking her work in prevention science into her next chapter. We are proud to celebrate all she has accomplished at K-State.

Congratulations, Sheetal!

At the Logan LIFE Center, an elementary school and a nursing home share the same space. K-State researchers are studying what happens when children and older adults learn, interact and spend time together.

Early findings are giving researchers more to explore, and the work continues.
