Zen Brass's Fall 2026 Midwest Tour brings them to the K-State campus for a guest recital this Wednesday, September 2, at 7:30pm in All Faiths Chapel.

This brass septet consists of musicians from five states and diverse musical backgrounds. The ensemble fills its programs with pieces from the old masters to living composers. Works for choir, piano, organ and small chamber orchestra find new light in original arrangements for seven brass instruments. Zen Brass is dedicated to the diversity of music through composers, style and geography as we perform beautiful and entertaining music designed to move and inspire.

String teachers and students are invited to attend the 4th annual Tallgrass String Festival and All-State Prep Day at K-State featuring guest artist Soon Hee Newbold! Registration is open until Sep. 15 with the festival taking place on Tuesday, Sep. 22.

Auditions for Winter Dance Concert will be held August 29th, 2026 at 8:00 am in Nichols Hall Studio 008. (Enter the building at the basement entrance in the south east corner). We will be auditioning for choreography in contemporary, tap, and jazz. We will also have a guest artist residency October 15-19 with The Dynamite Experience – Winston Dynamite Brown & Latra Ann Wilson. Join us as we explore Ireland next summer!

From lively concerts to immersive field trips, this course is designed to ignite your passion for music and create lasting memories as we take a deep dive into Ireland's traditional music and culture. Gain insights into Irish music's evolution, genres, instruments, dance forms, and historical context. Immerse yourself in cultural experiences, developing a comprehensive understanding of Ireland's rich musical traditions.

Highlights include the Cliffs of Moher, Neolithic monuments, the Galway Folk Festival, EPIC - The Irish Emigration Museum, Dublin's famous Temple Bar district, and a visit to working sheep farm with a herding dog demo!

Dan Hinman, Assistant Professor of Trombone, is featured on a new album "Voices of Land and Spirit" as a part of Zen Brass. The album, released on all streaming platforms on August 19, features original and arranged music for brass septet. The group will be touring through the region to celebrate the album's release, performing in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, including a concert in All Faiths Chapel on Wednesday, September 2 at 7:30pm.
