Open Publishing Exchange (OPE) is looking to hire for 3 positions in the library, which could provide such an opportunity to a K-State student. There is room to develop independent projects, build presentation skills, and chance for publication!

We have the honor to celebrate the work of Lauren Seybold 🌿

A Lawrence native, Lauren has dedicated her undergraduate research experience here at to environmental science. She shared some of her thoughts with K-State today, stating, “Climate action starts with an education public,” a sentiment which is reflected in the creation of LeafSpan. 🍁

LeafSpan is a board game designed with the purpose of encouraging middle school-aged students to learn more about climate change. Specifically, the game focuses on the life of Kansas wildflowers 💐🌻🌸 Students are challenged in the game by facing the struggles these Kansas wildflowers face in real life. The goal is to survive just long enough to produce seeds - a goal of all wildflowers in Kansas and beyond.

Lauren developed the game by using data from the annual Wildflower Walk (which is held annually by Friends of the Konza Prairie).

We are also abundantly thrilled to share that Lauren is a dedicated Developing Scholar, which is a program we here at SDUR are proud to host. 💜

school cafeterias just got a little boost, thanks to researchers here at 🧁💜
Kansas produces ~1/2 of the ENTIRE nation’s sorghum crop, which is an important key to producing more whole grain foods. 🌾
These students, who are part of the bakery science and management program, have been working with state-level and industry entities to develop a breakfast muffin with sorghum as the first ingredient.
Now that’s research that makes an impact!

From Manhattan to Thailand 🌏🧪

Annika Lindt, a senior at K-State went from the to with USAC Summer Study Abroad & Research Internship - Khon Kaen Thailand.

Her research examines liver fluke eradication, specifically exploring why some regions respond more effectively to interventions, and how a newly emerging subspecies of Opisthorchis viverrini could reshape transmission patterns, reservoir hosts, and public health strategies.

She shared, “I have really enjoyed working in a collaborative environment with researchers from all around the world. It is also so impactful to visit the communities and see real world progress that comes from the work our lab has done/is currently doing.”
