New series: Professors share their fav photos with art/cultural monuments! Profe Bender loves a good collection of Catholic historical art, especially "Las Virgenes"... and especially when they leave a space for her to pose! This one is at Pamplona's Catedral de Santa María.

Congratulations to Dr. Laura Kanost! Her translation of Suma Paz: A Chronicle of Love and Peril in Defense of Nature (Woodbridge, 2025) by Elvira Sánchez-Blake won a 2026 International Latino Book Award in the category of Best Nonfiction Book Translation - Spanish to English.

Spanish students were featured in K-State today sharing their takeaways from the summer study abroad and their on-the-ground research projects or cultural essays - check out why students in ALL majors add Spanish study to their degree plan (as a 2nd major or minor). Applications for the 2027 program should open this week!

K-State students combined Spanish-language immersion with hands-on research during a summer study-abroad program in Spain, connecting their academic interests with cultural experiences and real-world learning.

No classes today! Enjoy the "Wildcat Pause" and remember to take some time to rest or do something fun; even if you have to also catch up on work (like many of your professors!). Taking a rest will help you more in the long run!

On Tuesday K-State's Hispanic American Leadership Organization () hosted the 20th annual HALO Encuentro event, where hundreds of students from across Kansas came to campus to learn about the challenges and opportunities of university-level education and how they can attain their educational goals. HALO president Darleen Ferrer-Stricker ('27), a Spanish minor, helped start the day's events by moderating both student and faculty panels. The Modern Languages Department, including Spanish majors, minors, and professors, joined in to host workshops, serve on panels, and pass out ice cream on the campus tour, which included the KLC. Encuentro serves as an educational tool that supports Latino student identity development.
