Week 1 is done! 💜 ✨🥼🩺

Last week, we held 19 high school students on campus for week 1 of the Health Professions Exploration Program! We spent the week diving into experiences with local healthcare systems, learning from K-State faculty and taking these future Wildcats around the town. Thank you to Stormont Vail Health, Ascension Via Christi in Manhattan, No Stone Unturned, Wildwood Adventure Park and Varsity Donuts for partnering with us to make this week the best for these future healthcare professionals! Stay tuned for week 2 of HPEP!

We focus first on people here and around the globe 💜 🌎

These K-State pre-health students recently participated in a two-week study abroad program in Costa Rica! This trip provides our students with an enriching study of a universal healthcare system. Through clinical visits, tours and hands-on participation with non profit organizations, these students leave Costa Rica with global healthcare experience. Students participated in service work at the Chepe Se Baña’s service center, toured a medicinal farm, visited the Red Cross, the Tuberculosis Sanatorium, palliative care clinics and more!

10 of the 15 students on this trip pursue various degrees in the College of Health and Human Sciences and were accompanied on this trip by Courtney Beffa, School of Human Sciences Academic Advisor and Sherry Pogranichniy, Pre-Health Advisor. Learn more about pre-health designations at the link in the comments ⬇️

Get to know HHS Recruiter, Lyneé English! 💜✨

Lyneé’s favorite part of her job is helping new students find their place, supporting current students, and working with the HHS Ambassadors. She enjoys building connections, encouraging growth, and making a positive impact on the student experience.

New students, you will get to meet Lyneé at New Student Orientation, which begins on Monday, June 8!

One tip Lyneé has for students heading into NSO: Your advisor is your number one resource! Don’t be afraid to try something new. Everyone is in the same boat!
