🎓 Meet Our Fall 2025 Commencement Speaker!

We’re proud to announce that Marika Reese has been selected as the Fall 2025 Commencement Speaker for the College of Education.

Originally from the St. Paul region, Marika has earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and brings more than a decade of experience in social services, education, advocacy, and mental health. She is a licensed social worker and behavior analyst, and currently serves as an instructor at Inver Hills Community College, where she teaches Social Work and Social Justice.

Marika is deeply committed to community-based equity and advocacy efforts, always centering the voices of those most impacted. She is also the founder of Ubuntu, a mental health company dedicated to providing essential services to the community.

Please join us in congratulating Marika as this semester’s commencement speaker! 🎉

Dámaris De La Torre has been selected as the Fall 2025 student speaker for the College of Education pinning ceremony. She is graduating this semester from the Department of Elementary and Literacy Education.

In addition to participating in Teachers of Tomorrow and the undergraduate research team, Dámaris recently concluded her student teaching experience with the Faribault School District in their kindergarten Spanish immersion program.

Upon graduation, Dámaris will continue her work as the kindergarten Spanish immersion teacher at Roosevelt Early Learning Center in Faribault.

When asked what excites her about becoming an educator, Dámaris shared, “I love the idea of helping students make sense of the world and themselves. Teaching feels like a meaningful way to show up for others and inspire them to believe in their own potential.”

Program pathways include:

🔹 M.S. in Educational Leadership + Graduate Certificate in Racially Conscious School and Systems Leadership (5 semesters)

🔹 K–12 Administrative Licensure for aspiring principals, directors of special education, directors of community education, and superintendents
