Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is a Music social Fraternity that began in 1898. We are the world's oldest and largest secret national fraternal society in music. What began with developing brotherhood between American musicians at a time where they were not only at each others throats, but looked down upon for not being European trained, our Founder, Ossian Everett Mills began a group that focused on Broth

erhood in Music as a base to improve their lives as musicians and advance the role of Music in America. This page is for the Beta Omicron chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity which resides at the Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. Music takes a huge role on this campus as we are fortunate to have an outstanding program of study. Our marching band and choir have both traveled the world to show how far American musicians have come. We have a number of Brothers who are studying the field of music, but roughly half of the Fraternity (in our chapter and nationwide) study other areas such as English, mathematics, science, history; you name it! A Brotherhood in Music is not defined solely by talent, but passion. Former National President, Percy Jewett Burrell said it best:

“When Father Mills started a little club of male students at the New England Conservatory in Boston, he sought not the musician in the institution, but the man in the musician. No such question was put as ‘How well can you sing, young man?’ or ‘What can you play, sir?’ but ‘Come on, boys. Let’s get together!’ This was the slogan that struck the ear and stirred the heart for it meant something for sociability’s sake, good fellowship, and mutual helpfulness. The result is today the Sinfonia Fraternity of America.”

Music is a universal language and promoting harmony among mankind through Music is the ultimate goal.

Last night, we held our Departing Brothers ceremony. Good luck to Jon Consadine, Tyler Eick and Cody Ranck as they move on to the next chapter of their lives. It’s concert season!! The Beta Omicron Chapter has had a busy couple concert weekends! Buckle up this post is a long one!

A couple weeks back our brothers Isaac Fessenden, Ethan Hinshaw, Emiliano Quinones, Cody Ranck, Thomas Wagner,and Evan Zinck had their Spring Choir concert! Newly imitated brother Scooter was a soloist on the the last piece! Thank you to the alumni who showed up to perform and stairwell sing!

Last Sunday, Brothers in orchestra Tyler Eick, Isaac Fessenden , Shane McClymonds, Will Oldford, and Nate Spencer performed in the Spring orchestra concert.

On Friday May 1rst, brothers in jazz band Jon Consadine, Tyler Eick, Shane McClymonds, and Nate Spencer performed in the spring jazz concert. They had the opportunity to work with and perform with the Chris Rogers quartet. Also all of our brothers in the concert were soloists on a couple pieces.

On Saturday May 2nd, brothers Tyler Eick ,Isaac Fessenden, Will Oldford, Nate Spencer, and Thomas Wagner performed in a joint concert between brass band and symphonic band with the two bands even performing a piece together

And finally, The brothers in Wind Ensemble Jon, Tyler, Fez, Shane, Will and Nate performed their spring wind ensemble concert that had a song that featured the Mansfield Concert Choir

Congratulations to the Beta Omicron Chapter for putting on an amazing American Music recital!!

The brotherhood performed a couple singing favorites, a marimba duet written by our newly elected president and webmaster (Fall 2026 e-board post coming soon 😉😉) Shane McClymonds featuring Historian Asad Ruffin, Newly initiated brother Scooter laying down the beat, and jazz combos with parli Nate Spencer (guitar) FEO Fez (bass & vocals) Former President Jon Consadine (saxophone) and conductor & VP Ethan Hinshaw on vocals. Also thank you to Dustyn Gingerich for filling in on bass

Congratulations to our president Jon Consadine on an amazing senior recital this past Saturday!!

Jon’s recital featured a series of duets including a bassoon duet with our current Phi Mu Alpha sweetheart Valerie Miller, the saxophone group the “FanSaxtic Four”, and a jazz combo group that included our webmaster , warden, and president elect Shane McClymonds

The Beta Omicron Chapter had a busy recital weekend! Congratulations to seniors Tyler Eick (trumpet), Asad Ruffin (clarinet) , and alumni brother Jeremiah Loubriel (voice) on your amazing recitals!

Shoutout to all those involved in Tyler’s brass quintet including our warden & webmaster Shane on drum set and those involved with the Clarinet choir on Asad’s recital! You guys did amazing

Also one shoutout to our president Jon for doing stage crew for Tyler and Asad!

Brothers in Mansfield University’s symphony orchestra had the opportunity to perform in a combined Concert for state legislators with Bloomsburg University’s orchestra in Harrisburg at the capital building ,Wednesday 3/25/26

Brothers, Tyler Eick (Trumpet), Shane McClymonds (drum set), and Nate Spencer (guitar) had the opportunity to perform in a jazz combo band at a private reception for state legislators.

Congrats on great performances and great experiences! Thank you Mr. Straiton and Dr. Tedford for this opportunity
