On this Memorial Day, Manteo Lodge No. 521 pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy, and their memory must never fade. As Masons and as Americans, we are reminded of our duty to remember those who gave all, and to live in a manner worthy of the liberty they defended.

In observance of Memorial Day, Manteo Lodge No. 521 will be dark tonight.

“For those who gave all, thank you; we will never forget.”

Manteo Lodge No. 521 welcomed two new Brothers into the fraternity this past Monday evening as the Entered Apprentice Degree was conferred upon Jamie Moore and Rich Mallard.

Worshipful Master Jody Lewis presided over the evening’s work, with Brother Marc James presenting the apron, one of the most meaningful symbols of a Mason’s journey. Our District Deputy Grand Lecturer, Brother Chris East, delivered both the lecture and the charge, providing guidance and inspiration as these men took their first steps in the Craft.

An evening like this does not happen without the dedication of many Brothers working together, and we thank everyone who helped make the degree a success.

Please join us in congratulating Brothers Jamie and Rich. We welcome them into our fraternity and look forward to walking beside them as they continue their Masonic journey.

May they always seek light in masonry, practice the lessons of our Craft, and find friendship, fellowship, and purpose within the walls of our Lodge.

Welcome, Brothers. The journey toward more light has begun.

Monday night is shaping up to be a big evening at Manteo Masonic Lodge 521!

Join us Monday, May 11, 2026, as we gather for our first stated communication of May at 7:00 PM. Before the meeting, we will enjoy fellowship and a meal at the Shrine Club beginning at 6:00 PM.

The highlight of the evening will be the raising of two Brothers to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason, one of the most meaningful and memorable moments in Masonry. Nights like this are what our Lodge is all about, tradition, brotherhood, mentorship, and coming together to support the next generation of Master Masons.

We need a strong turnout and plenty of helping hands for the degree work, so please make every effort to attend. Let’s fill the Lodge with fellowship, energy, and support for these candidates as they take this important step in their Masonic journey.

Brethren and friends,

As a reminder, Manteo Masonic Lodge No. 521 will hold our stated communication tonight at 7:00 PM.

If you are unable to attend with us this evening, our brothers at Greenville Lodge #284 A.F. & A.M. will be holding a special program recognizing Brother CJ East as he celebrates his upcoming graduation from East Carolina University. Brother East is a member of Manteo Lodge No. 521 and has regularly attended Greenville Lodge while completing his studies at ECU.

Brother East will graduate with dual bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Biology, with honors, and plans to attend medical school. We are proud of Brother East’s accomplishments and especially thankful to the brethren of Greenville Lodge No. 284 for their friendship, fellowship, and support of Brother East during his time in Greenville. Their recognition of this milestone is a meaningful reminder of the strength of our fraternity and of the fraternal tie that binds our lodges together across the jurisdiction.

Please join us in congratulating Brother East and wishing him continued success in the years ahead.

Congratulations to Brothers Josh Abbott and Jody Lewis

Manteo Lodge No. 521 is proud to congratulate Brother Josh Abbott, Senior Deacon, and Brother Jody Lewis, Junior Warden, on their graduation from Wilkerson College.

Wilkerson College is an officer leadership program designed to help prepare Masons for greater service to their Lodge, their Brothers, and the Craft. Over the course of three sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of Masonic leadership, officer responsibilities, lodge operations, and the benevolence that supports Masonry across North Carolina.

The first session was held in Greensboro and highlighted WhiteStone, our Masonic and Eastern Star retirement community. The second session was held in Oxford and focused on the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford. The third and final session was held in Raleigh and highlighted the Grand Lodge of North Carolina.

Together, these sessions helped reinforce the broader mission of Masonry, from caring for our elders, to supporting children and families, to understanding the work of the Grand Lodge. Wilkerson College helps prepare officers to serve the Craft with knowledge, humility, and purpose.

Brother Jody was accompanied by his wife, Debbie, and Brother Josh was accompanied by his wife, Jessica. Manteo Past Master Terence Sheehy, who serves as site coordinator for the Raleigh site, was proud to celebrate this accomplishment with them.

Congratulations, Brothers Josh and Jody. Manteo Lodge is proud of your commitment, your service, and your continued growth in Masonry.
