No Pioneer tackles finals week without a little backup. Marietta College staff and faculty filled McDonough Center with encouraging signs and snacks this week because that is just what this community does. You've got this, Pios.

Marietta College is proud to welcome Megs J. Schreck Yunn '06 back to campus as the keynote speaker for the 189th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9 at 1 p.m.

A Communication and Media Studies graduate, McDonough Scholar, and 2014 Outstanding Alumna, Megs has spent nearly two decades putting her Marietta College education to work. As the Founder and Executive Director of Beverly's PGH, she leads a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit that serves approximately 30,000 children and families annually across Southwestern Pennsylvania and has raised more than $15 million since its founding in 2012. Her work has earned national recognition on Good Morning America and NBC Nightly News.

Nearly 20 years after walking across that stage, she returns to inspire the Class of 2026. The Long Blue Line is proud.

Long Blue Line, this one connects all the way back. The Jewett Prize was established by the will of Milo Parker Jewett, a professor of Rhetoric at Marietta College in the 1830s who went on to become the first president of Vassar College. For generations, it has recognized the graduating senior whose commencement oration is judged most excellent in composition and delivery.

The 2026 winners are:
First place: Katie Taylor (Health Science) | "This is It"
Second place: Kanae Yoshida (Communication Studies) | "Knocking on the Door"

These two Pioneers will take the stage at Commencement on May 9, carrying on a tradition that has run through Marietta College for nearly two centuries. Please join us in welcoming them into that history.

50 years. Generations of grit. A Pioneer legacy still in motion. 🚣‍♀️

On Saturday, Marietta College celebrated the history of women’s rowing by bringing together teammates from the 1970s through today—rowers from every decade, current student-athletes, coaches past and present, and the family and friends who have helped shape this program.

What began with determination and belief has grown into a tradition of excellence, defined by early mornings, shared finish lines, and lifelong connections.

Thank you to our incredible alumni, coaches, and supporters who returned to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate all that this program has become—and all that’s still ahead. More History To Make.
