Marina, California City of Marina, CA Marina is a city in Monterey County, California, United States. The United States Census Bureau estimated its 2013 population at 29,718.

Marina is located along the central coast of California, 8 miles (13 km) west of Salinas, and 8 miles north of Monterey, at an elevation of 43 feet (13 m). Marina was incorporated in 1975 and is the newest city on the Monterey Peninsula. The city includes part of a California State University, Monterey Bay, the UCMBEST branch research center of UC Santa Cruz, and the Veterans Transition Center (VTC). In 2012, Marina was named one of the 100 Best Community for Young People by America's Promise Alliance. Marina is located at 36°41′04″N 121°48′08″W.[4]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.8 square miles (25 km2), of which 8.9 square miles (23 km2) is land and 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2) (9.02%) is water. This is not the official page of the City of Marina.

“We learned many things that the recruiting brochures did not mention. We learned to work together, live together, and share.”
Ida Weinstein captured her WWII experiences in her memoir, “It Happened During WWII,” sharing what she experienced in the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC). Weinstein said she joined because she wanted to be part of something big, to be needed, and to help. As the second woman from her hometown to enlist, she was sworn in at the New York recruiting center. In her memoir, Weinstein recounts everything from cleaning the barracks in Des Moines and learning drill formations to receiving vaccinations and marching. She went on to achieve the rank of technical sergeant and proudly served her country.
