SMSU Learning Communities Grow as an educator. Lead with confidence. SMSU is proud that its learning community faculty are leaders in the field of distance graduate learning.

Explore flexible graduate programs, licensure pathways, faculty expertise, student success stories, and professional development opportunities through SMSU Graduate Education. SMSU Learning Communities, which offer a master’s in Education with an emphasis in teaching, learning and leadership, serve the graduate learning needs of professional educators studying a distance from campus. Past students attended learning communities as close as Granite Falls and Willmar and as far as Brainerd, MN, Rapid City, SD, and Mason City, IA. Our learning community faculty continually explore and respond to requests for learning communities in new areas as well. Our learning community model is centered on a spiraled curriculum which fosters transformational learning and application to professional practice. Southwest Minnesota State University is offering two 10-credit Adult Education opportunities designed to provide practical, meaningful strategies you can bring directly into your classroom:

🌱 Teaching Resilience — Explore strategies for building resilience in yourself and your students.

💚 SEL Blueprint — Develop a yearlong approach to social-emotional learning and impactful teaching.

Both offerings provide practical, classroom-ready tools and the opportunity to earn a micro-credential while continuing your professional development.
