"You can pretty much do anything with park maintenance or park ranger (training). … You can do a lot of different things with wildlife too, so you don't have to have a wildlife degree to work in resource management or in captivity for birds and ducks and things like that. You can get jobs in all those fields with a parks degree, so there is a really broad range for what you can do."

That was the topic of the guest speaker, Dr. Paula Gale, at the Women’s Center on Nov. 13. Dr. Gale is a professor at Soil Sciences at UTM. As a female, she is an advocate for women in the agricultural field.

She grew up on a 250-acre farm in Dowelltown, where her family raised beef cattle and also had rabbits, goats, horses, chickens, cats and dogs. At UT Martin, Amanda is studying animal science with a veterinary science emphasis. “I am actually living out my dream,” she says.
