Today, Monday, May 25th, is Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a National Day of Remembrance, honoring the men and women who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Originally called Decoration Day, it began during the Civil War when families placed flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers.

After World War I, the observance expanded to include those who died in all U.S. wars, and the name changed to Memorial Day. Today, Americans mark the day with ceremonies, flag displays, & moments of silence to remember & thank those who gave their lives for our freedom.

As we approach the end of the long weekend, let us also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day & the courage of those who served.
