Hello veterans of Yuba & Sutter Counties. Please join me in seeking out veterans in skilled nursing facilities around our nation. Become their pen-pal, visit them if they are local (once we are free of the pandemic of course). Just reach out. Imagine their loneliness. No visitors right now, and in some cases, no visitors EVER. You are welcome to write to this gentleman if you’d like. ❤️

Did you know there is an easy petition process to change your Withdrawal to an Excused Withdrawal (EW) during the COVID 19 pandemic?

Why should you consider an EW? Two big reasons:
An EW will not be counted towards your 3 attempts in a class and if you paid for your classes out of pocket, you may be eligible for a refund.

View our COVID-19 Excused Withdrawal Process flyer that provides you the two steps you would need to take to request an EW. It's very easy!

We are here to support you. Be safe 49ers!

Student Veterans will continue to receive their GI Bill benefits under S. 3503, which President Trump signed into law March 21.

The law enables VA to continue providing the same level of education benefits to students having to take courses online due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The law gives VA temporary authority to continue GI Bill payments uninterrupted in the event of national emergencies. This allows for continued payment of benefits even if the program has changed from resident training to online training.

Thanks to the law, GI Bill students will continue receiving the same monthly housing allowance (MHA) payments they received for resident training until Dec. 21, or until the school resumes in-person classes.

In the wake of COVID-19, thousands of students nationwide have been converted to distance learning as many educational institutions are transitioning to technology-based lesson delivery.

“I commend President Trump and Congress for their work on this important law,” said VA Secretary Robert Wilkie. “It will give Veteran students certainty as they continue their education.”

Students receiving GI Bill benefits are not required to take any action. Benefits will continue automatically. VA will work closely with schools to ensure accurately certified enrollments and timely processing. Updates will be provided to students via direct email campaigns and social media regarding VA’s effort to implement these new changes.

Students with specific questions can contact the Education Call Center at: 888-442-4551 between 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday-Friday.

YUBA COLLEGE REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER/FALL 2020 BEGINS MONDAY, APRIL 20TH! This is Tammy Pack from Yuba College Veterans Resource Center. Hope everyone is well. We are about to begin a new term here at Yuba College and I'm trying to get the word out that veterans get day one priority registration for classes (once registered w/the school). Please pass the word to any veterans you may know that would be interested in attending college! This is a great link to pass on to anyone needing more information!
Is there anyone interested in attending from Yuba College?

Please get in contact with me asap so i know how much of what i need to purchase Have a safe a fun Veteran's day weekend -Steve YCVS Activities Officer
We are trying something new in the VRC! There is a notepad by the back door on the wall. It is for club members to leave suggestions or ideas or complaints. You can remain anonymous or put down your contact info. One of the clubs will check it everyday at the end of the day and will try our best to get back to you or get answers for you or take your suggestions/complaints up the chain of command. We want to improve and continue making the VRC a great place for veterans! -SVA President Tyler
I know some of you know me and for those of you that don’t, I am the current President of the Student Veterans Association. We (as a club) are going to pick a moto and a logo that is our own. Something that we have that is unique to us. Many different SVA’s around have their own and now we need to step up and make ourselves known! We want your ideas and thoughts! If you have an idea or suggestion please send me a message so we can keep the ideas straight and keep tract of whose idea it was and give credit where credit is due! We need to get this done ASAP!! Also, at the front desk of the Veterans Resource Center there is a list for people to put down there class or work schedule. We always need people to set up booths in the quad and other small events that we need people to help with. So please feel free to sign the spreadsheet and let us know when you are not available. If you have any questions feel free to ask me or one of the other officers!
