Maryville College Scots Abroad

Maryville College Scots Abroad Dedicated to helping Maryville College students gain experience studying and interning abroad What is our study abroad philosophy?

The Maryville College study abroad program gives students the opportunity to participate on life-changing study abroad programs. Our programs offer students the opportunity to:
 Live and learn alongside locals
 Build real connections and gain a true understanding of what it is like to live in another culture
 Be part of an international community of over 300 institutions that work together to p

rovide students with study abroad experiences
 Have access to affordable, high quality programs
 Earn academic credit in all fields of study for time spent in another country. Students can study abroad in on a travel study program with MC faculty and students, or can stay for a few weeks during the summer and take classes on a language or specific topic. Students can even spend a semester or year taking classes one wouldn’t normally get a chance to take. Study abroad is an amazing opportunity to become intimately engaged in another culture by living it everyday, and to also reflect on one's own values and ideas. Studying abroad is not just about studying; it’s about learning from everything you experience. Students will learn a lot from the classes they take, whether courses are about Cross-Cultural Psychology or French Literature. Students make lasting connections among international and local communities. You will be amazed, confused, and surprised by all the sights, sounds, and smells of a different world. So consider study abroad your gateway to international
travel, to global education, to unknown worlds and to experiences you'll never forget.

The Galápagos Islands are home to giant tortoises, penguins, blue-footed bo***es, and - for the past 12 days - our MC Scots! ♥️🧡

This May-term travel study program, led by Drs. Julie Konkel and Andrew Gunnoe, has been a deep dive into the heart of a community and an ecosystem where science, culture, and sustainability are woven into everyday life.

Our scholars have learned about the natural history of the islands and gained a deeper understanding of the social and economic factors influencing conservation efforts and economic livelihood in the Galápagos. As conveyed in the post's picture, , Sam Cocchia, took that "deeper understanding" literally!

Join in the fun TOMORROW as Sam takes us on one of their final days abroad through a TAKEOVER at www.instagram.com/mcscotsabroad

More about Sam: "Hi, my name is Sam Cocchia. I just graduated this [spring] with a degree in both biology and exercise science, and I’m currently in the Galápagos Islands."🏝️

Our Psychology in the Netherlands program has touched down in Amsterdam 🛬 🇳🇱

For the next ten days, our Scots will be making the world their classroom under the guidance of Drs. Beale and Sherman. Through first-hand experiences and engagement, they will see how the country’s history, including its experiences in WWII, has fostered a progressive culture that embraces both innovation and inclusivity, particularly in areas like sexuality.

Stay tuned for a student takeover carried out on Instagram at www.instagram.com/mcscotsabroad
