We were proud to celebrate HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital Effingham today and dedicate our Effingham Technology Center nursing lab in honor of our outstanding partnership!

Recently, St. Anthony's made a generous gift that allowed us to equip the lab with an advanced patient simulator and additional hospital-grade equipment. We are thrilled to announce that, in recognition of this generosity, the lab has been officially named HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital High Fidelity Nursing Simulation Lab!

Thank you to HSHS St. Anthony's for your overwhelming generosity and commitment to elevating local nursing education. The impact of your partnership will change the lives of our nursing students, and those they care for, for decades to come.

We had a wonderful turnout for our annual Juneteenth celebration! Guests enjoyed games, snacks, crafts, a black-owned business fair and even an authentic hair and fashion show from The RealiTea ProjecT!

A huge thank you also to everyone who participated in the campus walk for freedom. With your participation and with generous donations from the Rotary Club of Mattoon, we raised more than $500 for the Lake Land College opportunity fund!

Our Juneteenth Celebration is still happening TODAY in the Luther Student Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come by for games, giveaways, a black-owned business fair, a crowd magic performance, an authentic hair and fashion show and much more!

Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a "walk for freedom." Walking paths across campus are available, including indoor and wheel-accessible options. The Mattoon Rotary Club will also donate $10 for every mile walked up to $1,000 to support Lake Land students!

We will also be giving out bottled water during the event to help anyone still without power from the storms.

Laker Emergency Alert: Lake Land College is closing at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, due to inclement weather and will remain closed the remainder of the day and evening. All classes and campus events after 2 p.m. are canceled, including the Fast Track to Fall event.

Last Year, the City of Mattoon declared June 17 as Lake Land College Laker Day in celebration of the historic seasons from our baseball and softball teams!

We're so proud of what these teams accomplished, and we're thankful for all our former, current and future Lakers!

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity throughout our campus community and beyond, our Laker Food Pantry provided students with more than 6,000 meals in 2025!

Get ready to serve, set and spike at the Lake Land College Volleyball youth summer camp!

Open for ages 6 through high school, this two-week camp will give players of all skill levels a chance to learn from Lake Land College Volleyball coaches and players!

Dates:
◇ Monday, July 20 - Thursday, July 23
◇ Monday, July 27 - Thursday, July 30

Camp times (applies for each day of camp):
◇ Ages 10 and under: 9 - 10 a.m.
◇ Age 11 and 6th grade: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m.
◇ 7th and 8th grade: 12:30 - 2 p.m.
◇ High School: 2:15 - 3:45 p.m.

Another action-packed week of Teens with Tools is in the books! Junior High students came by the Field House this week to practice their Volleyball skills and visited the Effingham Technology Center to design their very own video games!
