The McCook Community College Volleyball team wrapped up Volleyball camp week Friday with the Itsy Bitsy Spikers camps Friday with a morning camp and an afternoon camp for students ranging from pre-Kindergarten through the second grade.

McCook Community College sophomore Tate Anderson has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-American Division 1 Baseball second team. Anderson, was one of three pitchers selected to the second team.

Nearly 80 volleyball campers in the third through fifth grade took over the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center Thursday for the fourth day of MCC Volleyball camp led by Lady Indian players and Coach Hayley Kobza.

Volleyball camp week concludes Friday with the Itsy Bitsy Spikers camps for pre-Kindergarten from 9 a.m.-noon, first and second graders from 1-4 p.m.

A former Region IX championship men's basketball player and former Region IX Women's Coach of the year has been named McCook Community College's next men's basketball coach.

At a news conference Wednesday, Taylor Shaffer was introduced as MCC's new men's coach. Shaffer led Otero College to the NJCAA Elite Eight as a player and earned top coaching honors for the Otero women's team. He spent the past four years as a men's coach at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas.

Volleyball Camp Week continued Wednesday as the McCook Community College Volleyball staff and players conducted an all- skills camp for sixth through eighth graders.

Camps continue Thursday with core skills camp for third through fifth graders and Friday is the Itsy Bitsy Spikers camps for pre-Kindergarten, first and second graders.

Tuesday was libero camp at MCC for volleyball players in the sixth through 12 grade with the West Texas A&M volleyball staff conducting the camp in the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center with help from the MCC volleyball team. MCC alum Evie Hopkinson is one of the WTA&M staff on campus along with Head Coach Terry Gamble.

On Wednesday, the MCC volleyball staff and players will conduct an all skills camp for sixth through eighth graders, with Thursday's core skills camp for third through fifth graders and Friday is the Itsy Bitsy Spikers camps for pre-Kindergarten, first and second graders.

It's Volleyball Camp Week at McCook Community College! More than 70 campers were at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center Monday for the skills camp conducted West Texas A&M Coach Terry Gamble and Assistant Evie Hopkinson, an MCC alum. Monday's camp was an all-skills camp for seventh through 12th grade.

Tuesday's camp continues with the West Texas staff conducting a libero camp for sixth through 12 graders.

On Wednesday, the MCC volleyball staff and players are conducting an all skills camp for sixth through eighth graders, with Thursday's core skills camp for third through fifth graders and Friday is the Itsy Bitsy Spikers camps for pre-Kindergarten, first and second graders.

Today was the final day for MCC Basketball camps with middle schoolers taking the court at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center.
