OPEN CALL for The Early Researchers’ Union Open Science Writing Week 2023 !!!!

The Early Researchers’ Union organizes an open science writing week targeted at young scholars and welcomes applications from interested members. The open science writing week will take place from April 3rd to 7th 2023 in Rethymno on the Greek island of Crete. A short online follow-up session will be held end of September 2023 (date to be specified). Participants are expected to participate in both parts of the event and work on their projects in between. During the open science writing week, young scholars will work together on a preregistered scientific paper in collaboration with senior scholars who will provide datasets to work on in their subgroups. Spaces are limited to 18 participants across different subgroups.

For the third consecutive year, students in an undergraduate philosophy course brought their lessons into the Eliot-Pearson Children's School. Kindergarteners and first graders learning about philosophy is fitting for the laboratory/demonstration school, which prides itself on an innovative curriculum.

It happens to be World Philosophy Day, this Thursday in late fall, when the K-1 class at the Eliot-Pearson Children’s School holds its sixth and final philosophy class. Four children lean around a small round table, while three Tufts undergraduates balance precariously on tiny chairs.

Today children are consuming more media than ever before. Images in animated television have the ability to influence their young audience, according to Julie Dobrow, senior lecturer in the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development and senior fellow for Media and Civic Engagement in the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life.

The Children's Television (CTV) Project, headed by Dobrow and Associate Professor Chip Gidney, focuses on analyzing children's media in the United States. Over 200 graduate and undergraduate students have worked on the CTV Project within the past 6 years.
