This semester's Films in Spanish examines the experiences of migrants in Spain and Latin America. Race and Migration Films in Spanish features two films from Spain and one from Chile.
The series starts with On the Other Side of the World which examines migration at Spain's southern border. It continues with Perro bomba which follows a Haitian immigrant confronting racism and exclusion in Chile, and ends with La gran obra which explores race, class, and the treatment of African migrants in contemporary Spain. Together, these films explore migration, racial difference, and the search for belonging in Spain and Latin America.
The first film will take place on Sunday, October 18th. We hope to see you there!
