In observance of National Transfer Week, on 10/20 DCCC President Dr. Marta Yera Cronin and Penn State Brandywine Regional Chancellor Dr. Marilyn J. Wells signed an articulation agreement that will allow qualified DCCC graduates to seamlessly transfer to nearby Penn State Brandywine once DCCC students have successfully completed an associate degree program in specific disciplines and majors that align with parallel baccalaureate degree programs at Penn State Brandywine.

Former DCCC student Catherine Adewumi did just that three years ago. “Together, DCCC Penn State Brandywine provided me with an affordable, high-quality education, a supportive community and a pathway toward achieving my goals,” said Catherine, who earned an associate degree in Psychology from DCCC in 2023 and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Penn State Brandywine in 2026. The agreement applies to Penn State Brandywine’s bachelor of science degrees in biology, business, human development and family studies, psychology, and project and supply chain management and the bachelor of arts degree in English. DCCC students who graduate with an associate in science in business administration, psychology or science for health professions or an associate in arts in English with a minimum grade-point average of 2.0 are eligible. U.S. Army veteran Alex Chapman used to build tanks. Now, he wants to build a graphic design business. Upon arriving at DCCC, he planned to major in Engineering—and aced his first class. Yet a core requirement in Art History changed his trajectory—and his life. “Professor Florek made the material come alive, and I was totally tuned in. I changed my major to Graphic Design.”

Alex was able to use his veterans’ benefits to attend school and he works in DCCC’s Nazz Mariani Veterans Center. A father of three, he previously spent several years working night shifts as a mechanic. “I was missing daylight—and my family.” He was inspired to return to college when he saw his 68-year-old mother earn a master’s degree. “This is the best experience I’ve ever had in school, and the most fun I’ve had learning.” His goals are to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, start a business and produce a graphic novel. “You’re never too old to get an education or better yourself. If you’re a veteran, take advantage of the education benefits. The hardest step is walking in the door. Once you do that, DCCC will take care of you.”

Big Shout Out to Matt Blair, Graphic Design and Digital Asset Manager for DCCC’s Marketing & Communications department! Matt just presented at the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations district conference, and brought home three silvers and a gold for his video, illustration and design work that helps make our College shine! Kudos, Matt!

“One of the biggest things I valued about DCCC was the support system,” says 2026 Science for Health Professions graduate Precious Ellie, now pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Ursinus College. “Your professors can become some of your biggest resources when you are preparing to transfer and eventually pursue graduate or medical school. I never felt like I had to figure everything out completely on my own. There were faculty, advisors and others willing to help me navigate my education and think about what I wanted to do next. Though initially nervous, I found the transfer process to be pretty smooth.”

Her long-term goal is to become a cardiothoracic surgeon.“I grew up in Sierra Leone, and seeing the need there for better access to medical care influenced my decision to pursue medicine as a career. I enjoyed my DCCC STEM courses, especially Biology. The smaller class environment made it easier to ask questions and build relationships with professors. To celebrate National Coming Out Day today, students gathered at our Marple Campus’s Coming Out Day Resource Fair on Thursday to learn about DCCC’s support services and community organizations that strive to create a welcoming space for all.

It was also a great way to celebrate what makes our College community stronger.
