Today, we celebrated a century of smiles, service, education, and impact! 🦷✨

In honor of National Dental Hygiene Month, the Dental Hygiene Department at the UT Health Sciences College of Dentistry gathered to celebrate a remarkable milestone — the 100th anniversary of our Dental Hygiene Program!

Since its establishment in 1926, the program has shaped generations of dental hygiene professionals dedicated to advancing oral health, serving communities, and inspiring future generations.

Today’s celebration was especially meaningful as we honored our current alumni-turned-educators, whose dedication, service, and contributions have helped shape the legacy of our program. 💜

To our past and present students, alumni, faculty, and dental hygiene professionals, THANK YOU for being part of this incredible journey!

One week left to help Douglas reach his goal! 🏃‍♂️🧡
For D4 student Douglas Burns, running the Chicago Marathon is about more than crossing the finish line, it’s about giving back to an organization that once supported him and his family.
During his undergraduate years, Douglas was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Throughout his treatment journey, his family experienced firsthand the support provided by Ronald McDonald House Charities, giving Douglas a personal understanding of just how meaningful these resources can be for families navigating some of life’s most difficult moments.

Now, he’s turning miles into impact.
Douglas will take on the Chicago Marathon on October 11, raising funds to help Ronald McDonald House Charities continue supporting families when they need it most.
With the October 1 fundraising deadline officially ONE WEEK AWAY, let’s help Douglas reach his fundraising goal by donating, sharing his story and encouraging others to give. Then, once we hit that goal, let’s keep the support going all the way to the finish line in Chicago!

Sunshine, Snow-cones and Staff Socializing!
Before welcoming students back for another academic year, our staff came together for an afternoon of connection, laughter, and a little summer fun during our annual Staff Social.
From games and frozen treats to recognizing our incredible team through Staff Superlatives, it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the dedication, teamwork, and behind-the-scenes efforts that keep our college moving forward every day.

And today, our incoming Dental Hygiene Class of 2028 got a glimpse of the place they’ll soon call home for the next two years. From trying on their future scrubs to touring campus and connecting with faculty and our DH1 students, Admitted Students Day was filled with excitement, new experiences, and a glimpse into their future.🦷✨
