This week, our first-year students explored infectious disease in their Foundations of Pathology course. To bring the importance of this topic to life, students and faculty visited historic Elmwood Cemetery to learn about the history and lasting impact of the Yellow Fever epidemics in Memphis.

Among those buried at Elmwood are not only victims of the epidemics, but also the physicians, nurses, religious leaders, and community members who gave their lives caring for others. The visit offered a powerful reminder of the impact of infectious disease and the dedication of those who serve their communities in times of crisis.

Congratulations to our second-year students, who recently presented their posters showcasing cases they worked on during their surgical & autopsy rotations. We’re proud of their hard work, curiosity, and growing expertise!
