Meet the Staff:

We’re so excited to welcome back speech-language pathologist Cille Heehs for another year with Camp Dream Speak Live!

Here’s what Cille says about her journey as an SLP and the heart behind Camp Dream Speak Live:

“After 30 years as a speech-language pathologist, I have learned to embrace new research and evidence-based practices as they emerge in our field. As a clinical educator, I believe we must be willing to adapt and evolve in order to provide the most supportive care for those that stutter. Through the CARE model, I have come to understand that there is nothing to ‘fix’ in a person who stutters; rather, our role is to build confidence and support their ability to express their voices and messages. Camp Dream Speak Live is more than just a camp—it is a community that fosters confidence and empowers children who stutter.”

We are so grateful for Cille’s passion, experience, and commitment to helping children who stutter feel confident, heard, and empowered. 💛

Alumni Advice of the Week 💙

Question: What advice would you give students when choosing a Clinical Fellowship position?

Answer:
“When choosing a Clinical Fellowship position, find a supervisor who has mentored CFs before and knows the type of support new clinicians need.”

The right mentorship can make all the difference during your first year as a clinician.

✨ What I Wish People Knew About Stuttering✨

Here’s what two campers shared last summer about stuttering:

“It is okay to stutter. Your voice is beautiful and should be heard.” 💛

“Don’t blame someone who stutters. It’s just who they are.”

Powerful reminders from voices that deserve to be heard, valued, and respected—exactly as they are.

We’re so excited to introduce Laura Grace, one of our graduate student staff leaders for Camp Dream, Speak Live Summer 2026! 💛

Laura Grace is passionate about creating a space where every camper feels supported, confident, and truly heard. She loves learning about stuttering because it continually challenges her to think beyond fluency and focus on what really matters—connection, identity, and self-expression.

She is especially excited for camp because of the strong sense of community it builds. Watching campers grow in confidence, advocate for themselves, and support one another is what makes this experience so meaningful.

Join us this summer at Camp Dream. Speak. Live.!
