Last week, BUCOM held it’s annual Donor Memorial Service bringing students, faculty, and staff together to honor the individuals who generously donated their bodies to science. 🩵 Through poetry, artwork, reflections, and a symbolic flower tribute, the Class of 2029 expressed their deep gratitude for the impact these donors have had on their medical education. This meaningful tradition serves as a powerful reminder that medicine is rooted not only in knowledge, but also in compassion, generosity, and humanity. 🕊️

Today, Women's & Children's leaders and medical staff were introduced to the students of our Baptist University of Osteopathic Medicine. These amazing medical students will be learning in our Pediatric ER, Pediatric Inpatient and Intensive care unit, as well as in our obstetrical and surgical areas. These students presented with great questions, an eagerness to learn, and were so grateful and polite! We are so eager to work with each of them.

Walk through a typical day at the Guatemala Mission Trip! BUCOM faculty and students served patients in communities with limited resources, discovering that medicine goes far beyond treatment. 🩵🩺 “The more time I spent with patients, the more I realized that this experience was never simply about providing care. Working in a resource-limited setting challenged me to think differently about medicine and appreciate the value of adaptability, teamwork, and creativity in caring for patients. At the same time, I was struck by the gratitude of those we served. Many patients had traveled great distances and waited for hours simply for the opportunity to be seen, and their warmth and appreciation left a lasting impression on me,” BUCOM student, Sylvia Zakher shared.
