The University of Memphis is investing in the next generation of behavioral health professionals.

A new $297,688 award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will launch the Trauma-Responsive Education for Addiction Treatment Program at the UofM.

Led by Dr. Frances Ellmo, the program will prepare graduate students in counseling, nursing and social work to provide trauma-informed, evidence-based care for individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

The program will help strengthen the behavioral health workforce in Memphis while giving students valuable training and hands-on experience.

More than 100 graduate students are expected to participate throughout the three-year project.

His goal is simple: build community, meet students where they are and make sure they know they have support when they need it.

That kind of connection matters.

The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music has been selected as one of Billboard’s Top Music Business Schools for 2026.

Billboard’s annual list recognizes music business programs based on factors including industry recommendations, alumni accomplishments, institutional information and the publication’s reporting on music education.

The recognition reflects the unique advantages of studying music business in Memphis, a city with a globally recognized musical legacy and an active contemporary music industry.
