Emma Deptula, Second Year SLP Graduate Student, is excited about being at Browning School, a 3K-5th grade Milwaukee Public School, where she's fulfilling a clinical placement with Carmen Fox, CCC-SLP and Kristy Sinclair, CCC-SLP

This full time, off-campus placement provides important, hands-on clinical experience to build skills. All clinical instructors (CIs) are SLPs who host student clinicians within the CI’s professional setting. These volunteers serve as mentors to student clinicians for a whole semester, helping to ensure professional standards are met. The CUW SLP Department is very grateful for these CIs and their employers for their assistance in preparing the next generation of SLPs for a life of service.

We are proud to celebrate Isabel “Izzy” Hernandez, second-year CUW SLP graduate student and recipient of the Wisconsin Speech-Language-Hearing Association (WSHA) Foundation Judith H. and David J. Ward Scholarship!

Izzy’s passion for serving students in public schools and experiences in interprofessional practice came through clearly in her scholarship application- and we cannot think of a better future SLP to celebrate.
