International Open Access Week 2026 begins October 19 with the theme, “The Cost of Knowledge.”

This year’s focus invites us to examine the financial, human, and environmental costs of creating, sharing, and sustaining knowledge, and to consider who bears those costs when scholarly communication is shaped by private rather than public interests.

Open Access Week provides an opportunity to learn about Open Access and advance more equitable access to research and scholarship.

Explore our upcoming programs. Most sessions are designed for faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate student audiences.
