Alumni Thursday Spotlight. This weeks award goes out to Jordan Crockett. Jordan graduated from ASU in 2022 with a bachelors in aviation management. While he did not commence his flying journey through us, he learned a lot about what it takes to make it in real world as an aviation professional. He is most well known for his success in class AMT489 Airline Administration, where he learned how to run an airline through a simulation. In his simulation, he successfully grew the airline to over 2 planes with 3 destinations throughout the course of the semester which was very impressive. After college he dreamed of flying and decided the best course of action was to become a CFI in Amarillo, Texas. We hope you’re making ASU proud out in Amarillo!

Alumni Spotlight Thursday: This week’s award goes to Delta’s Justin Lawrence. Justin graduated from ASU in 2018 with a bachelors in professional flight. After flight instructing he went onto Skywest to fly the CRJ, and shortly after that he worked his way up to fly the 717 out of Detroit for Delta. Going from CRJ700s in Phoenix to an old 717 in Detroit must have been very hard work and that’s a testament to the education he received at ASU. Some may say Justin has always enjoyed a challenge in his career, and that continues today while at Delta. Whether buttoning his double breasted coat or flying the oldest airplanes he could, he is always making ASU proud.

Alumni Thursday Spotlight: this weeks award goes out to Tanner VanHorn better known as TVH. Tanner graduated from ASU in 2019 from the professional flight program. He went on to Skywest to fly the CRJ and then Southwest on the 737. He has been based in PHX his entire career as he still misses his college days and wants to be close to his former university. Tanner is a go getter at Southwest flying premium out of base turns helping the company out, but when he is not working you can find him out on his captain boat. He is still a first officer at Southwest. We hope TVH comes and visits us more and helps the future generation of pilots at ASU. Congrats TVH

Alumni Thursday Spotlight. This weeks alumni award belongs to Shane Kirwan. Shane graduated from the professional flight program in 2018 and went on to be an Arizona National Guard member flying the KC135, followed by working at American Airlines. A true American hero, Shane has been deployed to Guam multiple times valiantly defending the country. On the days where he is not defending America, he decided to work for the most American airline possible, American Airlines. A testament to his true love of his country, every morning in college Shane would volunteer to lead the pledge of allegiance for his classmates. We are proud to call Shane a sun devil and a patriot. Alumni Thursday Spotlight. This week’s alumni award belongs to Bradley Woods. He came to ASU as an Arizona Wildcat fan but left as a Sun Devil when he graduated from ASU in 2019. He then became a Buckeyes fan when and moved to Columbus. He went to Skywest where he upgraded to Captain and was a high time flyer. Bradley has been a CMH commuter at Southwest for just over 3 years now. He is always willing to help the company during IROPS and he always enjoys his favorite overnight in San Diego. He is a prime example of perseverance pays off as he thought his dream of becoming a jet pilot was impossible when he broke both legs. We are so proud of his story as a true Arizonan.

Alumni Thursday Spotlight. This weeks alumni award belongs to Dakota Lowry. Dakota graduated from the professional flight program in 2019 after multiple years working in the simulator building. After building time only doing cross countries with autopilot as an instructor, he went onto Skywest where he upgraded and left during his initial operating experience (IOE) to work for Southwest Airlines. Dakota was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the heart of the southwestern United States, so naturally he always had a calling to fly for Southwest. We hope he continues to make ASU proud while working for Southwest.

Alumni Thursday Spotlight. This weeks alumni of the week is Colon Landwehr. Colon graduated from ASU’s professional flight program in 2019 with a stellar GPA. He built his flight time instructing at ASU while simultaneously working the front desk at the simulator building. He is currently at Southwest Airlines where he was hired at 25, mainly because he was an intern before while at ASU! He hopes to upgrade to captain in MDW in the next few years and we hope he comes back to ASU to share his remarkable journey with us.

Ryan graduated from ASU in 2018 from the aviation college and went on to Envoy where he never upgraded and continued his career now at Southwest based out of DAL. We hope Ryan continues his success and comes back to ASU to share his remarkable career progression

ASU , the Tuesday 1 pm lab class visited the QEC American Airlines engine shop on 4 Nov 25.The shop supervisor Kennith hosted our visit. The students learned about the Airbus 2500 engines as well as the new leap 1 B engines. Our host pointed out all details on the engines From the EEC , igniter plugs, fuel nozzles, gear box, ACGeneratot, air / oil heat exchangers, fire loops and more.After that the students observed air bus aircraft underwing main the hangar.The students enjoyed the visit and see the value of hard work and study, to graduate and later work for a great company like American.Many thanks to our host Kennith for a great visit.
