Barry University Center for Counseling & Psychological Services

Barry University Center for Counseling & Psychological Services The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services can be of assistance to you in a variety of ways.

We are able to help you continue your personal development and to reach your life goals more effectively. Sometimes the issue that brings students to the Center may be as simple as time management or more involved such as personal loss, anxiety, or depression. Each person's needs are different and therefore each counseling relationship is unique. A counselor will help you to establish a plan which

helps to develop your abilities to reach personal goals. There are times when a person's needs require that they make use of another counseling agency, or a person wants to receive counseling but would feel more comfortable seeing someone not part of the Barry community. In either scenario, the Center will make the appropriate referrals when necessary.

✨ Every-Body Belongs Week is here! ✨

Join the Center for Counseling & Psychological Services as we celebrate body acceptance, self-compassion, and positive relationships with food, movement, and ourselves. đź’›

All week long (Feb 23–27), we’ll be hosting daily events focused on building a healthier body image and challenging the pressures we see in everyday life and on social media.

Because every body deserves respect, care, and belonging. 🤍

Stay tuned for each day’s event, we can’t wait to see you there!

Thank you to RA Abby for collaborating with us on this outreach event! As we head into Valentine’s Day, we want to remind everyone that love is not just about romantic relationships. It is also about friendship, community, and the relationship you have with yourself.

Celebrate the people who show up for you! Celebrate the friends who feel like family! Celebrate yourself!

You deserve love in all its forms! đź’š

Dry January:

Alcohol and drugs can impact sleep, mood, anxiety, focus, energy, and the ways we cope with stress. Taking a break, whether for a day, a week, or a month, creates space to notice what’s helping and what’s not.

Finals Tip #1 📚
Taking 5 minutes to reset before studying actually helps your brain work better.

✨ Clearing your space reduces visual distractions, which improves focus.
📝 Writing your top 3 priorities lowers mental overload and gives your brain a clear plan.
🌬️ Slow breathing tells your nervous system you’re safe, reducing stress and improving concentration.

Small steps → calmer mind → better studying.

Thank you to Housing and Residence Life for cohosting today’s event! We had a great turnout and loved connecting with so many students. Days like this remind us how important it is to come together, support one another, and keep the conversation around college mental health going. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped make the event a success! 💚
