Barry University Center for Counseling & Psychological Services

Barry University Center for Counseling & Psychological Services The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services can be of assistance to you in a variety of ways.

We are able to help you continue your personal development and to reach your life goals more effectively. Sometimes the issue that brings students to the Center may be as simple as time management or more involved such as personal loss, anxiety, or depression. Each person's needs are different and therefore each counseling relationship is unique. A counselor will help you to establish a plan which

helps to develop your abilities to reach personal goals. There are times when a person's needs require that they make use of another counseling agency, or a person wants to receive counseling but would feel more comfortable seeing someone not part of the Barry community. In either scenario, the Center will make the appropriate referrals when necessary.

Grief can affect each of us differently. You may experience sadness, anger, confusion, numbness, or a mix of emotions. Whatever you are feeling, know that your reaction is valid.

During difficult times, remember to be gentle with yourself, stay connected to supportive people, and prioritize your well-being. Healing is not a linear process, and there is no timeline for grief.

If you are struggling, you do not have to navigate it alone. Support is available.

Mental health matters for everyone. Yet many men are less likely to seek support due to stigma, societal expectations, or concerns about appearing vulnerable. The truth is that reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

This month, we encourage our Barry community to:
โœ”๏ธ Talk about how youโ€™re feeling
โœ”๏ธ Connect with someone you trust
โœ”๏ธ Prioritize your mental and physical well-being
โœ”๏ธ Take small steps toward positive change

You are not alone, and support is available.

๐Ÿ“ The Barry University Counseling Center is open throughout the summer, and students enrolled in summer classes are eligible to receive counseling services.

Today is such a special day as we celebrate Sarah Darby,
our incredible graduate assistant. ๐ŸŽ“ Watching her grow this year, support students with such care, and become such an important part of our team has been truly meaningful. Through her outreach efforts, compassion, and dedication to student well-being, she has made a lasting impact on our campus community. We are so proud of all she has accomplished and so excited to see her continue pursuing her dreams as she begins her PhD journey this fall at Texas Christian University. She is going to do amazing things! ๐Ÿ’š

We are also deeply grateful to the Rohan Family Mental Health Wellness Fund, whose generous support helped make this graduate assistant position possible and allowed us to continue investing in student mental health.
