We are an undergraduate organization that leads 7-10 day brigades to developing countries in hope of promoting sustainable development. These brigades allow students to apply their interests and skills through volunteer work abroad in countries including Ghana, Panama, and Nicaragua! Global Brigades uses a sustainable model to transition rural impoverished communities into flourishing self-run com

munities through education and collaboration on life-changing projects directly in the homes and the hearts of community members. This genuine and holistic approach reflects the true intentions of GB, which are to improve the quality of life for people in need in a long-term way. Global Brigades works to empower volunteers and under-resourced communities to resolve global health and economic disparities, and to inspire all involved to collaboratively work towards an equal world. Our vision is to improve the quality of life by igniting the largest student-led social responsibility movement on the planet. We currently send students to Ghana, Panama, and Greece to provide medical care, economic assistance, and basic necessities.

Our first meeting will be held on Thursday, September 5th at 8pm in the Student Activities Room South on the 3rd floor of the Shalala Student Center.

We are excited to announce that the UMiami Global Brigade chapter will be sending a medical brigade to Panama December 13-19th! Over the 7-day trip, we will set up free health clinics in underserved communities in Panama. Volunteers will be able to gain once in a lifetime patient experiences while contributing to the fight for health equity abroad. We will be holding an information meeting at the beginning of the semester; date TBD. Attached is our volunteer page link for both registration and donations. Hello Global Brigaders!

We all hope you had a great winter break and are just as excited as we are to be back! Both the Public Health Brigade and the Medical Brigade to Nicaragua are coming up in just a few months, but there is still time to sign up!

An informational meeting for the Public Health Brigade will be held on January 23rd at 8 pm in UC 2300J, and a meeting for the Medical Brigade will be held on January 24th at 8pm in UC 2300H. We will be going over schedules, pricing, fundraising, travel information, and much more!

The Public Health Brigade is May 10th to 16th, and will be led by Sam Brindley. The program cost for this brigade is $790, which does not include air fare. The Medical Brigade to Nicaragua is May 10th to 16th, and will be led by Helen Kattoura and Danielle Neskora. The program cost for this brigade is $990, which does not include air fare.
