Agroecology at Florida International University is an award-winning, interdisciplinary program housed in the Earth and Environment Department within the School of Environment, Arts, and Society. It offers science-based education, research, and outreach in agriculture and natural resources. International Workshop on Agroecology and Sustainable Agriculture (IWASA):
A six-day international workshop highlighting sustainable agriculture methods used in South Florida. The workshop offers invited short lectures on agroecology and food systems. Tours of local organic farms, nurseries, and community gardens are also organized. FIU Horticulture Professional Certificate Program:
Two month-long short course that, upon satisfactory completion, allows participants to sit for the Florida Nursery, Growers, and Landscape Association (FNGLA) Certified Horticulture Professional Exam. Veterans and Small Farmers Outreach:
A program to equip farmers with necessary technical know-how, farm entrepreneurial skills, and most importantly, increased access to government assistance programs so that they will launch and/or sustain viable farm operations. Teachers and High School Students:
