FIU Walk on Water

FIU Walk on Water FIU Architecture's 28th Annual Scholarship Design Competition + Water-Thon Maidique Campus.

For the past 28 years, FIU Department of Architecture students have participated-in and celebrated Walk on Water, a race founded and orchestrated by Professor Jaime Canaves. Each student designs and constructs shoes that will allow him/her to walk the length of the Green Lake at the heart of FIU’s Modesto A. This event has turned into an annual FIU Fall semester activity with thousands of spectato

rs and multiple scholarships awarded to architecture students from FIU. Last year, the competition was opened to students from across the country. Students from the University of Florida and Palm Beach State College competed with FIU students for scholarships and were granted travel awards from our main sponsor, CGI Windows & Doors. Apart from the contestants walking on water, every year we encourage our spectator students to show off their art skills while they simultaneously cheer on their classmates – capturing the true essence of the race. 🏃🏻‍♂️✍🏼
