“Learn to write well because strong writing is the foundation of great communication.” 🖋️🗣️

That’s just one piece of advice from Griselle Marino, an FIU School of Communication alumna and Director of the Miami-Dade County Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board.

From interviewing world leaders to spending more than two decades in communications leadership roles across Miami-Dade County, Griselle has built her career on serving the public and bringing people together through communication. 📢

Griselle’s dedication has earned her two Emmy Awards and a place in the FIU School of Communication & Journalism Hall of Fame, where she was inducted in 2022.

During her time at FIU, Griselle served as a staff writer for The Beacon, the university’s student newspaper, now known as PantherNOW. She shares that FIU gave her far more than an education. A challenging curriculum taught her to think critically, communicate with purpose, and, most importantly, build the confidence that has carried her throughout her career. 📰

She encourages students to stay curious, get involved, ask questions, network, step outside their comfort zones, and always be dependable, respectful, and prepared.

“Talent may open the first door, but character, work ethic, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning build a lasting career.”

Two groups from the Senior Capstone class have dedicated their time to building real advertising campaigns for an actual client, putting everything they’ve learned at FIU into practice.
