A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Miami-Dade County including the Coral Gables, Medical and Marine Campus.

SPECIFIC ACTION GUIDELINES
1. Immediately move inside.
2. Go into an interior room or hallway.
3. Stay away from windows, doors, and outside walls.

THE FOLLOWING IS AN EMERGENCY MESSAGE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI.

There is police activity in the area of Sagua and Ponce De Leon Boulevard (across from Plumer Building) under the Metrorail. There is no thereat to life safety. Ponce De Leon Boulevard is shut-down from Red Road to San Amaro.

The following is an operational status update from the University of Miami.

Florida Power and Light (FPL) crews have restored power to impacted buildings on the Coral Gables Campus. Facilities Management has also brought critical building systems back online.

Individual areas should be contacted to determine whether previously scheduled activities will occur tonight.

Coral Gables Campus facilities that were impacted by the outage will return to normal schedules tomorrow.

Facilities Management will continue to closely monitor the status of our campus power infrastructure.

The following is an operational message from the University of Miami.

Power is currently being restored in many buildings. However, Facilities Management is still restarting numerous critical life safety and security systems. We will provide updates when all systems have been checked and buildings are back to their normal state. Facilities Management is working to rapidly complete this process, but we ask for your patience while they go through these critical steps.

The following is an operational status update from the University of Miami.

Florida Power and Light (FPL) crews continue to work on making the emergency repairs to the University electrical distribution system.

The following buildings continue to be impacted: All Academic Buildings, Richter Library, University Center, Shalala Student Center, Frost School of Music, Ring Theatre, Gusman Hall, Mahoney / Pearson Residential College, and Lowe Art Museum.

FPL is expecting to have service restored as soon as it is safe to do so. Many of the impacted buildings are expected to have power sometime today, but subsequent power fluctuations are possible as FPL makes permanent repairs. The specific time is not yet known as final repairs and safety inspections are still in progress.

Facilities Management and support teams are monitoring buildings and campus infrastructure and preparing for power restoration when FPL completes repairs.

The Office of Emergency Management and Facilities Management continues to closely monitor all restoration efforts by FPL and will provide additional updates as soon as they are available.

The following is an update from the University of Miami.

The Coral Gables Campus is safe and there is no threat to life-safety. The police investigation into the earlier incident is expected to continue into the night in the following areas:

1. Ponce De Leon from S. Alhambra Circle to San Amaro
2. Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field
3. San Amaro and Brescia

Please stay clear of those areas as police conduct their investigation.
