What makes the MA in Global Affairs worth it? Criminology & Criminal Justice Professor Rob T. Guerette believes:

“Global Affairs isn’t just about theory; it’s about learning how to work within the nuances of real-world complexity. If you want to stay relevant and competitive, you need to understand those global dynamics. The MAGA degree builds that awareness and gives you practical skills you can use right away in government, business, or international organizations.”

We’re proud to celebrate a major achievement from one of our own! 🎉

Martin Brown, a student in the Master of Arts in Global Affairs program at FIU Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs, has been awarded the prestigious DACOR and DACOR Bacon House Foundation Fellowship—a highly competitive, merit-based award supporting graduate study in international affairs. Each year, participating institutions nominate top candidates, with one fellow selected per school following a rigorous review and interview process.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the support from FIU and the Global Affairs program. The DACOR Fellowship is a great opportunity to continue developing my work in foreign policy, and I’m excited to build on what I’ve learned at FIU while engaging with the DACOR community.”

Please join us in congratulating Martin on this outstanding accomplishment!

What makes the MA in Global Affairs worth it? Associate Teaching Professor Dr. Amy Hyman Gregory believes:

“In today’s competitive job market, candidates need skills that set them apart. The Master of Arts in Global Affairs is a multidisciplinary program where students master best-practice analytical skills and acquire hands-on professional development, while exploring contemporary domestic and global issues. With several specialized tracks, the program is ideal for those entering or advancing their careers in government agencies, foreign service, public policy, human rights, law enforcement/national security, intelligence, cybersecurity, and crime analytics. A global perspective and practical expertise give our graduates a distinct competitive edge.”

There’s always something interesting happening at the Green School.

As part of this week’s World Water Day programming, "Water, Culture, Life" brought together artists, practitioners, and scholars to explore the cultural and spiritual dimensions of water. Pictured here, movement artists Niurca Márquez and Damaris Ferrer performing "Diálogos" outside SIPA II—an embodied reflection on water, place, and community.

Some of you may remember Prof. Márquez from her recent Professional Development Seminar on grant-writing with our Global Affairs students—another example of the dynamic, interdisciplinary work happening across the Green School.
