The #19 Middlebury men's soccer team commences the 2026 season on Saturday, September 5 at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The Panthers posted a 10-6-2 record and earned spots in the NESCAC semifinals and second round of the NCAA Tournament a season ago. This year's captains are Owen Davis, Colin Dugan, Charlie Johnson and Quinn Pappendick.

The #7 Middlebury field hockey team, a winner of seven of the last eight NCAA Championships, begins its 2026 campaign on Saturday, September 5 against Union (N.Y.) on Peter Kohn Field. The Panthers tout a stellar 160-13 record across the past eight campaigns and made their 25th NCAA Tournament appearance a season ago. Captaining this year’s squad will be Megan Fuqua, Ally Kennedy and Claire McMichael.

Middlebury has announced the hiring of Johnny LaFortune '23 as an assistant track and field coach. LaFortune joins the Panthers after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Otterbein University last season.

John Halverson, a sophomore on the Middlebury men's ice hockey team, spent the first six years of his life in and out of hospitals battling intestinal malrotation, a birth condition in which a baby's intestines do not rotate or position correctly in the abdomen during development. Overcoming this adversity instilled a key lesson: never take a moment in life, positive or negative, for granted. Halverson also details his path to taking the ice in Chip Kenyon '85 Arena, from winning a state championship during his senior year of high school in Minnesota, to the special bonds he has formed with his teammates at Middlebury.

Caroline Adams of the Middlebury women's lacrosse team was named the Division III Commissioners Association (D3CA) Region I Student-Athlete of the Year. The honor, in its fifth year, highlights two graduating seniors from each of the 10 regions who have demonstrated excellence in athletics, academics, leadership and service throughout their collegiate careers.

The Middlebury softball program earned recognition from Easton and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for its commitment in the classroom. Middlebury slotted into a share of 25th place in Division III with a 3.68 grade point average (GPA). Additionally, 15 student-athletes were honored as Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes.
