Congratulations, Dr. Aarlan Aceto!

We’re proud to celebrate Dr. Aarlan Aceto, Program Coordinator and Professor of Ophthalmic Design & Dispensing at CT State Middlesex, as he begins his term as Board President of the United Opticians Association (UOA)!

As Aarlan Aceto begins his term as UOA Board President, he's sharing a personal message about where opticianry can go from here.

Looking at how professions like physical therapy, pharmacy, and nursing built their standing over time, he sees the same opportunity ahead for opticians, and it starts with people getting involved: joining a state association, volunteering on a committee, mentoring a student, making their voice heard.

When Richard Patrick arrived in 1968 to teach political science, the Middletown campus was a branch of Manchester Community College. Classes met after hours in a house on Hunting Hill Avenue and in Connecticut Valley Hospital facilities. The Middletown location later became Middlesex Community College, moved to a newly built campus on Training Hill Road in 1973, and is now CT State Middlesex. Nearly six decades later, as Middlesex approaches its 60th anniversary, Prof. Patrick remains part of its story. Read his story ⬇
