It's time for another sendoff to a 4 year veteran of our program. Julian Lee was both and attorney and a witness in his time with NUMT, competing at ORCS and Nationals to great success. Summer learning experiences are key to our academic competitors’ success! This week, we are proud to feature Northwood Mock Trial competitor Dereon Campbell in our Student Summer Spotlight.

Dereon is a rising sophomore from Bay City, Michigan, interning with Flow Automotive in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In his role, he is gaining experience in inventory management and organization, shadowing sales professionals, and working one-on-one with customers to educate them on vehicle technology and features.

When asked about the impact of his internship on his career growth, Dereon shared:

"My internship at Flow Automotive is giving me valuable hands-on experience in customer service, vehicle technology, inventory management, and the automotive sales process. Each day presents new opportunities to learn from experienced professionals and develop skills that will support my future career."

Experiences like Dereon’s highlight how Northwood's academic competitors apply their skills beyond competition and continue to grow as future leaders in their fields.

Isabella Delong is the focus of this week's Student Summer Spotlight!

Isabella is a rising sophomore and a Northwood Mock Trial competitor from Saginaw, Michigan. This summer, she is working as an intern with Stephenson and Company, PC in West Branch, Michigan. In this role, Isabella is applying her strong critical thinking skills to bookkeeping, conducting audits, and further developing her accounting expertise.

When asked how her internship is helping her grow as a business professional, Isabella shared:

“I want to build a career in accounting, and my internship with Stephenson and Company, PC has been a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field. I am confident that the skills I’m learning this summer will carry over not only into the classroom when I return to Northwood in the fall, but also into my future career.”

Isabella's experience showcases how Northwood’s academic competitors apply their skills in real-world settings to become future leaders.

Northwood Mock Trial capped off its 2025-2026 season in Washington D.C. April 17-19 at the AMTA National Championship Tournament! We are proud of our team’s success this season and the hardworking students who made it happen. In addition to team success, Conrad Waldie earned his second consecutive All-American Award this year! We are grateful for all of the students in our program, our coaches, alumni supporters, and everyone who helped NUMT excel on the national stage once again.

Northwood University Mock Trial is returning to the AMTA National Championship Tournament! After rounds against Colorado State University, University of Colorado, University of Illinois- Urbana-Champaign, and University of Kansas, NUMT secured a hard won bid out of the Geneva ORCs, putting them in the top 5% of teams nationwide. Three Northwood competitors won All-National Awards, including Barrett Tefft, Laina Tomei, and Conrad Waldie.

Northwood University Mock Trial had the privilege of competing at the University of Virginia's Great American Mock Trial Invitational (GAMTI) in December!

Hosted at the H. Carl Moultrie Federal Courthouse in Washington D.C., GAMTI is widely considered one of the most elite mock trial invitationals in the country. Northwood finished with a positive record after facing teams from Washington University of St. Louis, Miami University of Ohio, University of Chicago, and Princeton University, placing 9th out of 24 of the country’s most talented teams.
